"Just because you can see something doesn't mean you actually understand it."
It wasn't possible. It couldn't be possible!
"Vladdi, why the hell do I have to be protected by my EX-boyfriend!" Ashley cried, throwing her arms towards Rafael.
"Yeah, why do I have to protect this psycho-b*tch?"
Ashley's chest stung with pain, and her eyes obviously conveyed her message. She glared at him to make up for it, but Vladimir caught the look of hurt. The man smiled once more, a small light in his old eyes.
"Now, now," the elderly man calmed, putting a hand on each of their shoulders, "You two need to get to class. Mr. Sisneros, I'll expect you, and Ms. Ashley, behind the school once classes have ended for the day. I'll explain later once you have your companions gathered, Ms. Ashley." Vladimir whispered the last part in Ashley's ear. She nodded.
Rafael didn't even bother to ask. To him, this was just a load of cr*p.
As the twosome made their separate ways, Ashley wondered about the white orb, or what she openly assumed was the Orb of Judgement. She glanced around, checking all window, and surroundings. Seeing they were either sealed, or blackened, and there was no one around, Ashley took the small orb out.
And she was surprised to find out it was no longer white. Now, it was more of a greenish-blue color. Ashley believed that made sense: Rafael was given the Orb of Fire, or what should be assumed as red (Ashley didn't see an orb given to him, but that's just what she's guessing). So if you subtract red from white, which is the color of all colors mixed together, you get a cyan color, or green and blue.
Wow. That art class really did help.
Ashley started playing with the 3D object again, and also made note that it got... bigger. Before, she could have held the orb with her index and middle finger with ease, but now it was a bit harder. She had to spread her fingers out a bit more, and it was heavier. Ashley didn't even bother wondering; if the orb wanted to go funky on her, she would let it.
By the time Ashley had gotten to her fourth period class, the teacher had already left the kids to study for that upcoming test. The room was silent, and a few eyes had glanced at her before looking down again. Ashley didn't mind; just as long none of them knew of her orb.
Ashley sat down, and broke out her book for this particular class (Algebra II) and her notes.
A few minutes later, a voice sounded from behind her.
"...Ashley, right?" Ashley turned and nodded, wondering why the girl had interrupted her. The girl motioned downward. "I think you need to check out your pocket, dude..."
Ashley almost wanted to correct her on the, "dude," comment, but her eyes widened when she noticed her pocket was soaking wet! A small puddle was splashing onto the title below, and had apparently bugged the other female to the point she had to tell Ashley about it.
The brunette bolted up with a, "What the heck?" The teacher, still not there, had left the hall pass on her desk, so Ashley snapped the wooden plate off her desk, and stepped outside.
Locating the closest water fountain, too frustrated with bathrooms to find one, Ashley wrung out her pocket, as the orb came rolling out. Ashley groaned. "You again? Seriously, why now?"
"Am I..." Ashley turned. "...bothering you?"
A shorter girl stood behind her, curly hair framing her cute, round face. Big black eyes stared up at her with an aura of shyness. The black, lacy dress and the matching umbrella screamed, "Gothic."
Blinking, Ashley tried to recall her name. They had the same class right then, but she just couldn't place her name. This was annoying to Ashley: she usually remembered all the names she was ever told, but this one seemed to evade her...
"Ashley?"
Ashley jerked, and sighed apologetically. "I am so sorry, but I forgot your name. Will you please tell me so I won't forget again?"
She smiled a little. "Michelle." The adorable girl put her umbrella down with small, gloved hands.
"Michelle!" Ashley nodded, "I'll remember that. I'm sorry, I usually don't forget like that!"
"I-It's all right, it's fine. It happens all the time," Michelle confessed, looking down with a shy smile. "I-I'm sorry, but can I-" Michelle glanced at the water fountain. Ashley registered that she probably wanted water.
"Oh! I'm sorry, here!" Ashley moved.
Ashley began moving towards the classroom again, when Michelle's voice called for her.
"Oh... wait, Ashley- Ah!"
A sensation went up her spine. With a shocked expression, Ashley turned to find what she had forgotten in the fountain: her orb. Ashley noticed what seemed like fog at her feet before looking at Michelle again.
The girl was shaking, and her eyes were clouded over, like she was thinking deeply about something.
Ashley jogged to her, and waved a hand in front of her face. "Michelle! Michelle, are you all right?" Looking at her, and back to the orb, Ashley snatched the glowing blue shape from the dark-haired girl's fingertips.
Michelle collapsed almost immediately afterwards, her hand reaching for her head.
"Michelle! Are you all right?"
Michelle looked up at her, and whispered in her soft voice, "Ashley... Ashley, that... that was amazing!" Michelle's dull black eyes were now sparkling with excitement, a genuine smile lighting up her face.
Ashley's face looked surprised again as she looked from her new-found companion to her orb.
The orb was now colored a dark green.
