"Even if it hurts, time will never stop for your pain."
"Guys, cover your faces!"
As Kylee instructed, the four covered their mouths and noses as the purple entered the room, seeping through the window.
"What is that, poison?" Michelle said, her soft voice even more muffled by her dress' long sleeve.
Kylee nodded. "The keeper of the Orb of Poison is nearby. Hurry, get under the table!" She ducked. "You too, idiot!"
"Shut up, nerd," Rafael barked.
The girl ignored the insult, and said, "Ashley, can you contact Vladimir?"
"Y-Yeah, but he might not be home!" Ashley said, digging into her bag for her cell. "He doesn't have a cell phone!"
"Ugh! I should have asked my granny how to counter the poison!" Kylee swore. Rafael glared at her.
"Hey, would you stop bossing us around like you're superior? You don't know anything, do you?" Rafael barked again through his large black sweatshirt.
She glared. "If you want to live, I suggest you keep your voice do-" Kylee's eyes widened, and she stiffened. Michelle and Ashley looked the same way.
Uncovering his mouth, he replied, "Keep my voice, what?" Suddenly, Rafael was being pulled out from under the table, and into the unclear purple. "What the- ah!" Ashley watched in horror as Rafael leg was pulled, and his expression went from anger to fear, then pain, then back to fear all in one second. Ashley moved her handkerchief from her mouth, and screamed, "RAFAEL-" She reached out, but not only was she way off from grabbing his extended hand, Kylee quickly covered her mouth. The girl stared out into the purple as the other two brought her back under the table, where the air was only tinted.
"Shush! Don't inhale, there's something out in the library," Kylee looked out, her chest visibly moving, and shaking silently. "And it's more than just a mere Level 4."
Michelle's eyes narrowed in fear. "M-M-More?"
"More. Probably a Level Twenty."
Ashley had covered her mouth back up, her eyes tearing. She didn't want to think about it. Rafael. her breathing became ragged. Michelle and Kylee patted her back.
"He'll be fine, Ashley, Rafael wasn't chosen for the Orb of Fire for nothing..." Kylee soothed.
"Yeah. He won't die easily." Michelle rubbed her back sweetly. Ashley bit her lip behind the piece of cloth.
He better not.
I... can't... breathe! Rafael screamed in his head, clutching his throat in a mass panic. He shut his right eye in pain as the poison burned the inside of his chest.
It was then an empty orange eye came into view from the purple. Rafael gagged in shock as the eye blinked vertically, and scrunched un in what seemed like joy. Or at least it looked like it, since he was hanging upside-down, his right ankle in a clawed hand.
"A Keeperrr?" a loud whisper-like voice sounded. A chuckle, then tongue licking lips. "And so young..." Rafael gritted his teeth in fury, and tried to yell back. Nothing came. The creature's other claw then poked his side, causing him to wince. "You're too bony. No meat on youuu. Such a shame."
"Garloash, have you found a Keeper?"
"Yesss, Master," the creature voiced, his eye turning for a moment. "A very bony one at that."
A shadow of a person formed. Rafael tried to focus, but the lack of air was making his vision foggy. The only noticeable thing was that she (or he) had long hair. The voice was also low, but high enough to be a girl.
"Garloash, for the last time, you may not eat the Keepers from this school." The color black filled his vision; the person's clothes. "Hm. Inexperienced. Has van Duuke not taught you anything?" Rafael coughed violently. "Ah, that's right. You're poisoned! Michael, please clear up his area."
The purple to his left glowed brighter, and air entered his lungs. Rafael coughed some more as the person ordered Garloash to let him go. He had landed on his back on the library's carpet. The boy looked at his interrogator, his vision still unclear. Panting, Rafael barely held himself up.
"I see, no reflexes either." The person tilted his chin from side to side. "You haven't even received you orb yet. Pathetic. Van Duuke has gotten too soft."
Their head turned towards the orange-eyes beast. "Come, Michael, Garloash. We will come back another day."
And with that, Rafael fainted.
