The humane society finally contacted us, and said they already had the cat. Apparently she had been there before, probably when I was there, (she was called Sophie). However, they said she was anemic and terminally ill, and would have to be euthanized immediately. Of course we got upset, and offered to take her if there was a possibility of saving her. The Humane society said we could have her, but the medical procedures would cost $3000. They have been really vague about her actual condition however, so we still don't know exactly what's going on. They said we would have to decide immediately though. Both of my previous two old cats had kidney failure and bladder problems in their later years. Our last one was on fluids for a year. Sophie is already 12. We also have a stray in our front yard with a messed up eye. I don't know what it is about my house, but it seems to attract sick cats.
On a lighter note, I will be adopting two kittens soon. There are four to choose from, but it's so hard to decide since they all have unique personalities!
