I for one don't care one lick one way or the other about them. Especially when it comes to folks wearing them. The only time that it bothers me is when someone heralds it as creative. Sorry but that is not creativity. Yes it does look nice but it is a set, they are supposed to look nice together.
Creativity in its truest sense is mixing things together from different sources and making something that is you.
In my opinion the best avatars are the ones that are truly creative, where you look at it and go "y'know I never would have thought of that myself".
I know personally the best way to achieve that is to make your avatar a representation of some facet of who you are. You isolate that facet and you transform it from something abstract into something everyone can see and understand.
As a personal example. I take my sinister side, and I craft avatars to express it. It helps I don't really get a chance to express it in real life so it makes the strength of it even more potent here on the website. However for me that is what works, you take a facet of your personality and you craft your avatar around it. It doesn't have to be expensive *I recommend ignoring cost*, but it does have to represent you. If it doesn't then you are just wasting your time.
That however was all off on a tangent sort of. A clothing set in my point of view is to help ya get going. If you rely solely on them then don't be surprised if I rip on you if you try to say it is creative. You are just mimicking someone else; and increasingly I do not agree with the sentiment that "imitation is the best form of flattery". The best form of flattery is taking inspiration from someone/something and making your own thing.
