[prompt: Explain your philosopy of life. Why are you on the planet? What is the purpose for your being here, the reasons for your existence?]
The meaning of life- being alive, the ability to grow and function that distinguishes animals and plants (before their death) from rocks and synthetic substances. That is the definition I've found from a dictionary, but, to be able to support my inquiry of opinion, I must tell a small story that contains what I believe life to be.
Ages ago, life was born in the primitive sea. Young life forms constantly evolved in order to survive. Some prospered, some did not; all sorts of life ebbed and flowed like the tide. In the quiet rhythm of the mother sea, life grew, always seeking to survive and flourish. Soon life began to advance towards land, opening new habitats. A great prosperity came, as life conquered even the highest mountains. Mass extinctions came wave after wave, but empty niches always quickly refilled, to once again prosper, grow, and reproduce. Someday the next great emigration will occur, as we leave this existence looking for another. The journey will begin anew. I hold within me the memories of all that has passed, and so does everyone else that lives today.
To explain, I believe the primitive sea to be a mother's womb, because changes occur there, getting ready for the survival outside. And medically speaking, sometimes not all babies borne by a mother are ready to survive, and they die(ebbing and flowing of life) or have died. Those that do survive, continue on, doing what they do, until they die. Where they used to live, others will replace them eventually, also going about their business, and thrive while they can. Sooner or later, they too die, leaving behind their life's accomplishments.
In short, I believe life is something that is a continuous cycle, never really changing the way it goes around, no matter how much things change like technology. We all find a way of living, be it difficlut or easier, and live a life that was exactly the same as times passed; toiling in our own business, private to the world. I believe this because if there was a better purpose than eating, sleeping, growing, and reproducing, wouldn't that purpose already be achieved long before we were ever born? Although we have advancements, aren't we still living a life the same as past ancestors? Still fighting over the same problems?
Looking at that, I don't really find any other purpose to exist, other than continuing on in a cylce, endlessly, until there comes a time life can no longer be supported.
