Years had gone by, without an incident. Nessa soon learned, after that strange day so long ago, that she had developed a gift. She had developed the power of teleportation, like in all the comic books she had read.
Now she was 14 and everything was going smoothly, or so she thought. She had friends that loved her, and her bond with her mother grew stronger everyday. She still had never told anyone about he power, for how could she explain it to them. She didnt want to be a freak then more she already was.

As i was saying, things were pretty much smooth sailing. Nessa inivited one of her friends over to spend the night. That was when the trouble began...

Nessa and Linda had been friends ever since she transfered schools. They were like 2 peas in a pod (i know clique). They did everything together. And so many times Nessa want to tell her about her power, but Nessa was afraid of rejection. Being an outcast was too hard for her to bare. So Nessa kept her secert to herself all these years. Anyways, Nessa and Linda were walking home from school on a friday. They were going to stay up late, tell stories, and watch movies all night! The excitiment was almost unbareble.
Once they made it home, Nessa wanted to go play by the lake that she had in her backyard. She always had fun there, and figured that Linda would too. They picked flowers that were along the bank, and watched fish pop up and snap at a bug or too. They climbed trees and swung on the tire swing that Nessa's father had put up that spring. Once they were worn out from all that they had done, they plopped down by the bank and watched the sun go down. It was beautiful. All the reds, yellows, and oranges molting together. It was a night to remember.
Linda gave Nessa a push on the shoulder, for Nessa had completely spaced out while staring at the sunset. Since Nessa wasnt expecting it she...

Nessa teleported into the center of the lake, and took Linda with her. When she opened her eyes, she was completely surround by the world's tears.

But only this time she didnt take Linda with her. Last time, Linda had been touching Nessa. Linda had let go when they were in the water. When Nessa appeared on shore, she choked and gasped for air. She fell to her knees, not realizing that Linda hadnt come to shore yet. Once she caught a breath or too, her stomach sank. "Linda?" Nessa paniced, "Linda?!" Nessa jumped in the water. She went under to see if she could see Linda, but she was no where in sight. She cried out once more, "Linda?!" Nessa swam out closer to the center and went under again. She saw a hand! Linda, she thought. She swam towards the hand, grabbed it and pulled it to shore. It was Linda, indeed. But she wasnt breathing, and she had blood coming from the back of her neck. "Linda?!" Nessa sobbed as she shook her. Nessa's head was clouding up, she didnt know what to do...mouth to mouth was the only thing she could think of.
One breath, two breath. Press, press, press of the chest. Then, one breath, two breath. Press, press, press of the chest. She tried for about 2 minutes, no reponse...Linda was gone...


Nessa told her parents what had happened, but changed the story. She said that they were swinging on the tire swing when Linda fell off into the water, and hit her neck on a rock.
Nessa went to the funeral, and was unable to hold back the tears. She had cried the day before, and many days after. Things were never going to be the same. When a week had gone by, Nessa made a promise to herself...
That was the day when Nessa swore she would never use her powers again!
