Neko's Little Curled-up Ball of Angst
Welcome to my journal! It's about my life, my projects, cuteness, and whatever else happens to float to the top of my mind at the time, all wrapped up into a fluffy ball of kitty-based angst!
Believing is seeing
'Cause every night I will save your life

A philosophical post, in a way...

The power of belief is a hard thing to learn, but it seems to be the most powerful tool available to any human. Aside from certain things that never change (the laws of physics for example) or, more accurately, are outside our control, fact is controlled by belief. If you believe something is true, it becomes true. If you can convince someone else that something is true you have sway over that person. However, this is often used as a tool when someone is unsure of their belief. They force the same beliefs on others in an attempt to make things more real for themselves. This never works and anyway, it's aside from the point I'm trying to make.

What I'm talking about is more on a personal level, personal beliefs. For example, if you believe you are happy then you become happy. It's probably the easiest way out of depression (though it does require effort on the individual's part). The best way to explain this is with a placebo. A placebo is something that someone believes to have an effect when it really has none, and seems to be used most often in medicine and psychology. For example, someone horribly sick is given a sugar pill and told this pill will make them better. As long as they truly believe the pill will make them better, without a doubt in their mind, then it probably will. But it also works the other way around. If you are given a treatment that you absolutely believe will NOT work, there's a good chance it won't even though it should. For some reason, this effect seems more prominent in some people than others, a stronger conviction maybe? Or maybe there's something deeper, something in a person's DNA or the way they were raised? But that's also aside from the point. Very specifically, it seems that any person can manipulate their emotions through this belief. Like I said, if you believe you are happy then you become happy. If you believe you are sad, then you become sad, If you are convinced you are angry then you become angry. The problem is gaining that belief when you feel something completely different. Maybe it requires something to push you over the precipice before you realize you can do it, the thoughtless falling sensation causing you to act without thinking? Whatever the reason, it seems to become easier once you realize it's possible. That's all, just felt like I needed to get that out. ^_^

Bravo Mr. Psychology major. *Half smiles*
But I have known this since I was a small little boy. One day going to school I felt sick. As my dad was driving me I was crying, "I'm sick" over and over and my dad told me pretty much what you just told me. XD
Thanks though. ^_^
