They woke me up at nightfall
Their shoes reflected a large grey cat in the shadows
I stood up and looked out the door
At the sand raining in the strand of the billiard bushes
Plane tickets in their hands.
Then one of them brought something tan up to their mouth
A peach i thought, but it was a cigar
I reached under my bed for my coffee
And one of them asked if I ever thought of stained teeth
Possibly, I thought, but always as a shrub really close to me
Right next to you, where it really matters
I think a thriving life will gaze down upon that shrub
Right next to his trycicle where it really matters
Except as a realization of minor annoyance
Though to believe most of that, I dreamed
you have to accept the premise
That your even awake at all.
