Alrighty, I'm going to try something new. I've been writing a story so to speak and thought that maybe you'd like to read what I have so far. I'm trying to think of a title for it, but it's a bit hard, soooo hopefully you enjoy what I have.

~Part 1 - The Beginning~
.:Chapter One - Nightshade's Past:.

She felt alive and free running in the green meadow, her father chasing her, and the wind whipping her hair around her face. While running, she laughed happily. Her father was catching up now and would have caught her up in his arms within a matter of minutes, but the scene changed. She was at home, hiding with fear pulsing through her veins. There was screaming, banging, the sounds of swords clashing, and the smell of blood was thick in the air. A large, shadowy figure stood within the center of the room. It was covered from head to toe in her parents blood. It started to come closer, closing in on her hiding spot. With teeth clicking, its claws growing sharp, and eyes that burned red, she could see that this figure was a male and that he was now directly in front of her spot. Raising his arm, his claws elongating and a snarl ripping from his throat, he brought his arm down, she screamed loudly, and then....

Nightshade sat up in her bed. Her eyes wide, heart racing, and body drenched in a cold sweat. This dream...nightmare, had been haunting her for years and she couldn't seem to erase it from her mind. So rubbing her face, she sighed then turned her head, glancing out the bedroom window. It was midday, the sun was halfway in the sky, and the birds chirped loudly. The towns people were moving around the village as if the place were on fire, or like little ants in the rain. Sighing once more, Nightshade threw off the covers and forced herself out of bed. She knew that it was about to be a long day, for whenever that dream came, her day was always a long one. Well, she couldn't wait for it to be over, but what she didn't know and certainly wasn't expecting was that she was about to gain some interesting company on her journey, because about 15 miles away from the village, a traveler known across the land as "The Demon Wolf" was looking for a small, quiet place to stay. He had been walking day and night for a few, finally deciding to find a place to rest. The night before, the Demon Wolf had been in a few tough fights, getting out of them with only minor injuries, but was still a bit sore. Without realizing it, he was already about 5 miles away from the village now.

"Ah, I'll be able to finally rest." he thought, smiling to himself. Now, finally walking within the crowds of the village, he stopped and looked around. This place was so alive, so vibrant, and also...highly annoying. All he really wanted was to find a quiet spot so he could think, but with all this noise, he might as well join a circus! As this thought went through his mind, the acuteness of his ears caught the sounds of music. The tone being soft and gentle, the melody being sad yet beautiful. Curious, he walked in the direction of the music and as he got closer to the clear notes, he realized it was someone singing. He was very curios now and wanted to find the person that could sing such a lovely tune. It seemed to be the only thing that was really peaceful in this place and it was exactly what he needed.

Meanwhile, still in the room and fixing up her hair into a long braid, Nightshade was singing. She hadn't sung like like this since her mother, Sarin, had died and it felt really good to sing again, the feeling being warm to the heart. Finishing the braid and letting it fall down her back, she got up and went outside, breathing in the freshness of the air. The scent of baking bread, the sounds of the people, and the beauty of the village hit her hard, making her realize that she was starting to get attached to the place and had to leave right there and then, seeing as she couldn't stay. Wanting to get the thoughts out of her mind, she began to hum the song that she had been singing earlier, stepping into the crowd, and enjoying the feel of the warm, wonderful caress of the sun on her brown skin.

On the other side of the village, he was moving closer now, being drawn in. The music was louder, the person making such lovely sounds seeming to move through the sea of people. With being taller than most, he stopped and looked over the heads of the villagers and, after a little while, he spotted a girl that looked to be out of place here and then, listening carefully, caught the tune she was humming. Heh, I've found you at last. he thought with a smirk being painted upon his face. Starting to head in her direction, something inside was being pulled, maybe it was his soul, to the female and he didn't understand the why of it. So, as he kept moving towards her, one simple question was a solid imprint in his minds eye, burning so brightly that it would have blinded anyone if it were his power...Why?

Stopping at one of the many shops that lined the streets of the village, Nightshade managed to find herself some breakfast. Smoked ham with a touch of honey, eggs that were turned sunny side up, the sweetest of ripe blue berries, and some herbal tea that also had honey with it. "Oh, now this is what I call a very good morning meal to be had on such a lovely day." she said, highly pleased with the food that was placed before her. Taking a few of the blue berries and plopping them into her mouth, she didn't notice the man, dress in all white attire, come towards the table in which she sat. It was only when she started to take a sip of tea that she became aware of him and gasped, shock and pleasant surprise one her face. This man was extremely handsome with his waste length white strands, the perfectly sun kissed toned skin, a gorgeous smile that showed off his fangs, and the built, muscular frame of his body.

However, the feature that stood out most was his eyes. They were the color of pure molten gold, with different shades and hues that matched seamlessly with his skin. Also, upon having finally taken notice of him, she could see that his eyes almost matched with hers, except for the fact that the colored shades of her eyes danced like fire or sometimes played with colors that painted the sky at sunset. As this male drew near, Nightshade opened her senses a bit, letting them stretch out to him, and instantly pulled back, shocked by the intense surges of power going through him. She pulled back instantly, knowing exactly where such power came from and of the nature in which that power was used.

"Well, well, what would a god be doing down here? Lat that they came for a "visit" it was nothing but bad news and I had to do clean up." she said in an undertone, her mind racing with unanswered thoughts. As he finally approached the table in which she sat, her mind raced even more as the surges of his power rolled off him like waves of an ocean. It was only when he started to speak, did her mind silence itself, turning all focus on this man. "Hm, mind if I join you for breakfast, M'lady?" he asked, his voice heavily accented with a Celtic sound, his vocals being deep. Nightshade didn't trust herself to speak in that moment, so she simply shook her head, letting him know that he didn't mind at all. A small smiled played on his lips as he pulled out a chair, sat down, and ordered something to eat. "So, what might happen to be your name, dear lady? My name is Arikos." he told her as his food happened to arrive. Watching him for a few minutes as he savored the richness of the food, she didn't answer him right away and, after those few minutes has passed by, she finally spoke. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Arikos. My name is Nightshade, although many call me Night."

Arikos looked at her with surprise moving like smoke across his face, his eyes holding most of it. This girl that sat across from him as one of the thickest elven accents that he'd ever heard, seeing as the elves lived mostly in the northern lands where many a grand forest thrive. Having come to the western lands however, he didn't think that anyone here would have the thickness and smoothness of her vocals, and to add on to everything, there was not one feature on her body that suggested she was an elf, but more so pointed to that of a demon with the claws, fangs, ears and tail. "The pleasure is mine, Nightshade. I must say, you have a lovely singing voice." he told her, taking a sip from his tea. Blinking several time at this comment, Nightshade blushed slightly, her cheeks turning a light shade of red. This only made her dark skin stand out a little more so she turned her head, causing white strands of hair to fall and shield her face so he didn't see her blushing so.

He had heard her singing? That was impossible for you could barely make out the sound of someone yelling, let alone singing in this village. More to the point, the pitch hadn't been all the loud and she had been mumbling the words, more or less. "Oh, well, thank you very much." she said softly, "I haven't sung like that for a while. Hm, now changing the subject, what brings one such as yourself here?" she asked, taking a glance at Arikos. He didn't reply to this question right away as if trying to think of the right words in which to form the response. Then, speaking quietly and averting his eyes from her, he answered the girls question. "What do you mean, "one such as me?" I'm the same as anyone else here, just with a few more assets added than your average person is all." Narrowing her eyes, their color being that of garnet instead flames, Nightshade knew she couldn't trust Arikos for he had given her the wrong answer and, as was said, there was ALWAYS a reason that the gods were here, so why was he here?

The gods always had a purpose for wanting to step into the mortal world, the world which some of the higher beings found distasteful, a place not worth of their eyes. This was something that she knew all to well. Her back still bore the scar, going from her right shoulder down to her left hip, form the "sensei" that the gods had sent to train her, help her control the abilities that dwelt within the girls body so that she could control them properly. That day, during a training session where the teachings were of sword play, Sensei Yrael's temper had flared out of control and he had used his personal katana, one she now owned, and scored open her back with it. Nightshade could still feel the pain and agony that had been set that day. A growl escaped her as this scar started to burn, a glow of ruby almost showing through the clothing, reminding her that she would nor could ever forgive the gods for sending such a man to train her.

Turning her attention back on Arikos, trying to forget about that memory, she gave him a small smile that didn't reach her eyes in any way. "Ah, I see. Well, in that case, I should be going now for I have a long journey ahead of me and it would be nice to get a head start." she said, her voice being bitter-sweet, almost seeming to drip with venom. Arikos, hearing the change in tone and feeling the different energy coming from her, just sat there for a few moments before smiling back at her, his reaching up to the golden spheres of his eyes and slowly got up. He took his time straightening his coat, making sure his weapons were hidden properly from sight, then turned to look at Nightshade, speaking in a low tone of voice. "I think I'll travel with you for a while. There is somewhere I need to go anyway, and you're going in the same direction. So, if you're ready, let us start the journey." Nightshade looked at Arikos, her gaze being deadly. If such feats were possible, he would be lying on the ground, dead from the look she was giving him.

She didn't know what to tell him nor did she know what to do in that particular moment. No one had ever wanted to travel with her and she was used to traveling alone. So, not being able to come up with a good enough reply, she sighed heavily. "Alright fine, you can accompany me." she told him, sighing once more. Then, in an undertone, she said "Let the journey begin and may the gods be watching over us." Every ounce of hate was dripping like venom in her voice, letting Arikos know just how much she didn't like this and with that, another smile formed upon his lips.

.:Chapter Two - The Journey Begins:.

About three hours after their -interesting- breakfast, Arikos and Nightshade were on the road, the village far behind them. With a heavy heart, Nightshade had found it rough to finally leave the village after having spent six months there, but it was just one of those thing that was the -right thing to do.- "Well, this should be a fun trip." she mumbled, tearing her thought away from the village and placing it upon her new companion. She was beginning to dislike this situation, thinking that it had been a bad choice to let Arikos come with her, but who was she to really complain? Nightshade now had company, whether pleasant or not, and was very luck to have found someone with equal power or more power than her, not to mention that it was going to be much easier to fight off enemies and -keep- them from coming back. "Hm, Arikos might actually be useful for something." she thought, licking her fangs slowly. This thought was cut short however, as Arikos spoke, his deep voice slicing into her ears. Oddly enough, this made her jump ever so slightly, for she had almost forgotten that he was there....almost. "So where are we headed, M'lady?" he asked, a smirk shaping onto his lips.

Narrowing her eyes as she had done before in the village, her temper starting to rise as she thought up a suitable answer for him. "We're going south to a city titled 'The Kitrye Elghinyrr City' or in English, The Half-Dead City. We'll have to walk through the forest, know as the Racsas Forest, to get there though." Arikos blinked a few times in surprise, making sure that he had hear those words correctly from her. Why, in all the seven levels of hell, would a girl like her go to such places? Having gone through the Racsas Forest himself not to long ago, he knew that it wasn't exactly a bad place...that is, if you knew hot to take care and defend yourself in there, but it was the mention of the Half-Dead City that got to him, his stomach seeming to have butterflies in it. The Half-Dead City was a place where shades of the most horrible nature mingled with shadow beings that would kill you without a second thought. A place where moving, decaying bodes and bloodthirsty, vengeful spirits and souls lived.

It was a place not meant for the faint of heart. If you weren't all that careful, you would most likely -bump- into one of the being there...then it would be up to the gods to help, which hardly EVER happened. The creatures in that place were too dangerous and not something to mess with. "Hm, may I ask why we're traveling to those places?" Arikos asked, looking at Nightshade with more intensity in his gaze then he had meant for there to be. Turning to face him, she gazed at him with equal intensity that suggested either anger or hostility, before she looked away. "Well, first of all, the only way to step within the city limits is to pass through the Racsas Forest. Second of all, in that city there is someone who sells rare Laputian Aura Crystals. With it, I'll be able to train my abilities of aura and be able to use them better." she told him, her words being rushed as if it would be better to get all this out quickly instead of just saying it slowly or at a normal pace.

Arikos listened to every syllable of every word that she spoke, worry painting itself onto his face, his features having shadows on them. He knew safer ways to get to the Half-Dead City and had never come across anyone that would go there willingly, even if they had to get something from the cursed place. "This girl must have a death wish to want to go there" he though. He was about to tell her of the things in that city, things of which Nightshade didn't know, but the look in her eyes stopped him from saying anything. There was more to the story than just going there to get a simple crystal, one of which you could find in other areas. "Oh, may the gods be with us on this." he mumbled, making sure that she didn't hear these words. But..did she hear him? For at that moment, Arikos bumped right into her, a hiss leaving her mouth, her eyes glowing like a wildfire.

Backing up quickly, her said a short apology then realized that she wasn't paying the slightest bit of attention to him. Nightshade was listening for something, her striped ears flicking back and forth on her head. Her body was tense and her hands were curling into fists. What happen next was like a blur or rather streaks of color, almost like a steam of his memory was put on fast forward. One minute Nightshade was standing next to him and then the next minute, they were both flat on the ground upon their stomachs. The sound of something small and fast went through the air above them. This was then followed by many, many arrows sailing quickly over their heads.
