Untitled (Chapter Two)
Chapter Two

We stood there silent for a couple of minutes. We looked around and were surprised to see candles and circle drawn on the floor in which we were in the center. As our parents started to clasp hands and close their eyes I looked to the floor which was emitting a glowing yellow light. I jabbed whoever was behind me and pointed down. It was Cassie who then got the attention of Rachel and it passed down the line until we were all looking at the floor. It was then that our parents started to chant. We all had identical looks of fear as we listened to them. It sounded Latin and none of us knew what they were saying. After the first line things started happening. The light was crawling up keeping us in while a ravenous wind was blowing all around us. Our parents were still chanting and I could see that they were also crying.
I looked to my dad. Who was trying not to break hold of the hands that he was holding. “What is going on.” I screamed “Please tell us what is going on.” He looked at me and the fear on my face. It broke him to see it and he looked at me and whispered “I’m so sorry.” I looked to my mother as she said the same thing and the others looked at their daughters and said similar things. As the wind died down my mom spoke. “Girls your destiny is about to begin. I know you are scared truth is we were too at your age when it happened to us. We will be here to help you through everything starting with what comes next. You will be in some pain but it will go away quickly. Turn around and face each other and hold hands do not let go no matter what happens.” So we turned towards each other and held hands. Me at the head of the circle in the same position as my mom with Tammy to my right and Cassie to my left, Angie was next to Cassie while Rachel was next to Angie. We were a complete circle. Out of the side of my eye I saw our Mothers step out from the circle and step toward their daughters. When they got to us they touched the crease of our backs with something wet and cold. As they turned away I noticed that where they had touched was starting to burn. I could see the realization on my friends faces. After a while it started to really hurt. At the same time we all fell to the ground still maintaining our circle but crying out in pain. It felt like my back was being ripped open and something was being pulled out. It lasted for a couple minutes getting a lot worse and then lessening to the point where I could open my eyes and actually be able to stand. What I saw made me think I had to be seeing things. As I looked at my friends and they looked at me we all gasped at the same time and reached for our backs. They were really there, it wasn’t a dream. We had all grown wings they were all the same size and shape and color. Pure White the color of clouds from the sky. That’s when the screaming started as we turned to our parents demanding answers. “What the heck happened?” “Why is this happening?” “What is going on?” “Why do we have wings?” There were questions and shouts going around and all I wanted to do was shake my mother and demand answers, but the circle wouldn’t let me out. Finally my Dad whistled really loud and everything quieted. My Mother stepped forward. “Please listen, before we can tell you anything your wings must be put away. Breathe very deeply and imagine them closing into your back.” As we all closed our eyes and breathed slowly I stood still thinking of the wings going into my back. I was shocked when I actually felt them get smaller and when I opened my eyes my friends had all done the same thing. “Ok” I said turning towards my mother, “ Can you please tell us what’s going on?” Our parents grasped hands once more and started to chant another Latin sounding verse. We all watched as the light around the circle lowered and went out as it touched the ground. When the chant was done and the light was out our parents took us into the kitchen we all sat at the huge table. My friends and I separated to sit with our parents. We sat there silent, no one sure how to begin. Finally after a few minutes my mother spoke up. “I know you girls have a lot of questions and we will try to answer them those as best we can. All I can tell you is the basics of what comes next.” “We went through the same thing when we turned 13 s did our mother’s and their mother’s before them. It has continued down all of our bloodline for generations. The weird thing is it only happens with the girls.” Abigal Stone, who was Tammie’s mom, pitched in. “For now we can’t answer your questions because you must meet the others who will help you with your quest. But if you have any questions later we shall try to answer them later.” My dad said. “Wait what do you mean meet the others there are more people that this is happening to. Why didn’t you tell us anything?” I said in a panicky voice. I was trying not to burst into tears because this was really freaking me out. I could see that Tammy was right where I was while Angie and Cassie were trying to think strong. Rachel just looked like everything had just fallen apart and the world was ending. Kind of how she felt when Greg Saldini had rejected her after she had told him that she liked him. Al I knew was that something new and strange was happening and nothing would ever be the same. “We couldn’t say anything about this before you turned 13 those were the rules. We are about to retire from this and its your turn to take up the mantle.” Danielle Kilties Said. She is Rachel’s mom. She turned to my mother and said “We better get them there he won’t like it if they are late.” At that all the mothers got up and ushered us to the sunroom again. As they formed a circle around us the second time I could tell what was about to happen. “Wait, where are you sending us?” No one said anything. They closed their eyes and began another chant. The wind whipped up again as did the light around the circle. Because of the wind I couldn’t hear what they were saying. As I began to feel like we were moving I gripped my friends hands and we formed a tight circle with each other. The wind got higher and we couldn’t see anything. All the sudden it felt like the ground was falling out from under us. I heard one of the girls screaming but couldn’t tell who it was. We fell for what felt like ten minutes still holding on very tightly to each other. When we finally hit the ground and the wind disappeared I could finally see where we had landed. And we weren’t alone.
