Charlotte ran through her chambers and down the hall outside of her rooms. Drunken residents of the palace still awake watched as she ran by, in her nightgown. Let them stare, she thought.
Finally, she came to a door off the hallway that led to the maids' quarters. She banged on the door.
"Aimee, wake up! Wake up, I need you!" she yelled.Finally, her most trusted maid came to the door.
"What is it, your grace?" Aimee bowed to Charlotte.
"I've done something terrible. Can we talk in my rooms?"
"Of course, your grace."
Back in Charlotte's rooms, she told Aimee the whole story, about Jaques getting caught, and about her dream...
