Yes kids. Michael is for all purposes related to this blog- Cupid. Always has been.
I never could appreciate the irony of that. People always come to me for advice. They also happen to come to me when they need a little push in the direction of finding that one amore.
What's the irony? Michael can hardly get a date for himself- But by all means, let Life screw with him by giving him the perfect means for bringing together two OTHER people.
Not that I mind that much. Many of my friends already know that I prefer helping others rather than advancing most of my own goals. But really, when I thought that I was safe from having to do this..... 7 days before the end of school- BAM.
I thought back to the other times I've been somebody's cupid. Quite a couple of times, actually. It's depressing and uplifting at the same time, oddly enough.
Could I be the next Hitch? Nah. Will Smith would smack me if I meant that.
So what is it that makes me so damn capable of joining two people together? Is it my good looks?
Or is it my naturally awesome-charisma?
Actually, it's my lack of looks and popular charm that enables me, so says love psychologist Y. Wrange. It's simple- no one expects me to even want to touch the subject. The times I do? That's usually when I achieve some bit of wisdom or perform an act of cupidness. The few times I approach the subject and put forth my name, I'm swiftly replied to with a "Oh hell no." It's a lot like playing MineSweeper. You take little itty-bitty pokes and prods at something entirely dangerous and hope your rectum isn't blown through your skull in a fiery inferno.
Yesterday, I was approached by a good friend of mine. The usual 'hi', 'bye', and the such. And then she said she needed to talk to me, taking my hand and pulling me a stone's throw away from the crowd of acquaintances.
She explained a lotta things at once- So fast I hardly caught onto any of it. But it was something around the lines of 'I'm starting to notice I don't have a date." "Bonus" said my mind!
I looked at her, her eyes seemingly much more than I ever remembered. She dragged me away from everyone just to say something- this had to have been it.
"Well.... Michael..... I...." "Yes??" "I want to know...." "Uh-huh??" "Who's that guy you always hang out with? The one with the pirate hat? I think he's cute."
%#$@.
