part four
Two things happened at once; the knife slide across the young Alphonse's neck as a bullet took Illanya down. When everything was down not a single person moved. That was until the REAL Alphonse came into view. "ILLANYA!"
Edward rushed forward as well but Roy and Riza stayed back. He had no idea what had happened. Then he understood.....Envy had been acting as the chained Alphonse. It had been a setup! He snapped to his senses and growled, "WHO SHOT HER?"
Edward Released Envy from his chains and both knelt down. "Is she alive?" Envy asked as the other Homunculus with Roy and Riza's help went searching for the shooter.
"I....I think so," Al answered. He moved her shirt and revealed the wound. "It looks like a clean shot. In and out the side without hitting any major organs."
"Let's get her inside," Ed said. "Mustang's going to be pissed."
Pissed was taking it lightly as Roy stormed back and forth. Only two Homunculus remained in the small apartment that Ed and Al had rented. The rest were out in the town still looking for whoever shot Illanya. Envy stood by the window with his arms crossed and Greed sat on a small sofa with his head bowed. "I can't believe any of you let her do this!" Roy growled.
"There was no talking her out of it," Edward said. "Al tried until he was blue in the face. It's their fault!"
Both Envy and Greed looked over at Ed but it was Envy who spoke. "I didn't twist her arm pipsqueak. This was her idea from the very begining."
"WHO ARE YOU CALLING A PIPSQUEAK!?!?!?!" Ed growled as he jumped to his feet.
"Stop it..........both of you," Greed said as he looked at the two. Then he looked over at Mustang. "As Envy has stated we didn't ask her for this." He looked over to the door and sighed. "She knew the riks involved."
"And I'm sure being shot wasn't one of them!" Ed hissed.
"Instead of yelling them why not ask me," Illanya said from behind Roy. Her arm was drapped around Al as they walked into the living room.
Greed moved so that she could sit and he helped Al set her down. "You shouldn't be up like this," Greed scolded her with a small smile.
"Why? Jealous I can keep going after taking a hit?" she asked him with a smile of her own.
Greed simply smiled and then laughed as Al sat next to her. "You got me on that."
Roy glared at his sister as he spat, "This is nothing to laugh at. Do you have any idea what could have happened? What they want to happen?"
Illanya shrugged as she said, "They being the people most likely want me dead for my little stunt. Why else would one of them shot me?"
"And yet you treat it as a joke," Roy said as he slammed his fist on the table. "Do you have any idea of the postion you've put me in?" He spun to face her and grabbed her shoulders.They want you dead and I may have no choice but to grant them their wish!"
To everyone's amazement Al stood and with a growl pushed Roy away from Illanya. "Leave her alone! You touch her and I....I....."
Illanya laid her arm on Al's shoulder and it seemed to calm him. He sat back down as Illanya looked at her brother. "I know what I have done. And I'm ready for the punishment."
"You....you can't be serious," Envy said in slight shock.
"But I am," Illanya said with a smile. "Remeber what you said? If I did this then you would owe me one."
"What.....you want me to die.....again?" Envy asked. Then he laughed as he took on Illanya's form and bowed. "Very well. But only if Mustang lets us Homunculus go free."
"I....I can't do that," Roy answered after a moment.
"Then I'll be the one to take the punishment," Illanya said as she stood. She placed her hand on Envy's arm. "Let's go."
"What are you doing?" Al asked.
"After what I did there won't be a single place that's not looking for me." Illanya sighed. "I have to find a place where these guys can live without being harrassed."
"And I'm going with her," Alphonse said speaking up.
"That's crazy Al," Edward said as he looked at his brother. "Mustang has to declare Illanya a traitor. If you go with her....you'll be considered one too."
"He's right Al.....you....you can't go with me," Illanya said sadly. "We were fools Al....we're too different. I'm not a even Human anymore.....just a half breed."
"That's not true!" Al said suddenly. "You ARE Human!"
"Am I?" Illanya asked. "If what you say is true then they are as well." She took Envy's hand and held it up next to her own. What differences do you see?"
"That's different Illy, you have no idea what they've done," Roy said quietly. "You have no idea what they tried to do to Al and Ed."
Your wrong.." Edward answered. "She does know....because we told her."
"And I understand why they did it," Illanya answered. "Their desire to be Human is as strong as mine." She lowered her hand and Envy's. "We're different because we have abilities that Humans don't. Envy can change form and I have my Chimera form."
"But you were Human once," Greed said speaking up. "Me, Envy, and the others....we were born this way."
"He has a point," Envy said after a moment. He looked at Illanya and then away. "You were BORN Human.....we were not. That alone makes you different from even us."
Illanya lowered her head but said nothing instead she dropped Envy's other hand. Then she turned her back on them all. "Then if that's the case....I don't belong anywhere." Then before anyone could stop her she crashed through the door and transformed. In the blink of an eye she was gone.
No one moved for a moment and then Envy sighed and shook his head. "Since none of you can find her as easily as I can....I'll go." Then in the blink of an eye...he too was gone.
