MGW Entry Two
As she arrived, she could hear many 'people' being inside, as if some sort of convention. She stepped in what it seemed to be a 'huge room', the size of it could be compared to a 'football field'. Many beings were scattered around, they were most male's. This seemed obvious to Kris, she knew that not many female's were chosen to pilot a 'Mecha', due to the major sexism most of the males had. She didn't exactly pay attention to the glaring eyes and negative whispers from judgmental beings as she walked upto a horizontally large desk, which behind were countless workers, sorting papers, busily walking back and forth, attending 'newcomer' 'Mecha' pilots, and the regular ones. While she approached, she heard a male's voice speaking loudly from a seemingly red colored 'megaphone'.
"Last call for a training practice routine" he boredly expressed then took a deep breath, "Please, if you hear your name, pass towards the 'Mecha' selection area..." a paper, listed, full of names arose with his hand.
"Erato, Morpho, Yoma, Kit, Athal, Ragnar, Cunobelinus, Klotsius, Kadja, Derek, Barrett, Mariusz, Etzel, Zinoviy, Barnabas, Zlatko, Lycurgus and Kris" the man sighed afterwards and raised his hand so he could be seen and followed.
Quickly and agilely, Kris moved towards where she had been called to and proceeded to the next area, the 'Selection Area', where afterwards, she should be able to choose a 'Mecha' of her own. One thing she did notice, she was the only female around a group of seventeen male's, eighteen beings in total.
They all gathered together and walked into the area. The group of young men noticed Kris was the only female, and so, they began to joke around, which was only going to irk her while she was being perplexed, amazed and left without breath for this was her first time where she would have a "close encounter" with a 'Mecha'.
"Hey, what's she doing in here?" one of them asked, in a joke like tone.
"I don't know, but last time I heard that a female tried to control a Mecha, and... she ended up 'K.O.'ing' all of the rest of the Mecha's and she was kicked out" the other expressed as they all laughed together.
Kris paid no minor attention, she was not ready to get into a slight trouble just because of some 'jerks'. She kept passing a few of the 'Mecha's' by, browsing them and inspecting each and every one, carefully, eyeing and pointing out in her mind a few of the problems, reasons of why she wouldn't like to pilot 'this one' or 'that one'. Then, she came across what seemed to be an abandoned 'Mecha', though it wasn't near rusting, it was somewhat dusty, perhaps it's been vital years it had not been used. A particular reason that 'Mecha' caught Kris's attention was perhaps simple facts, including the one that she could identify herself with this 'Mecha'. In particular, that they both shared somewhat particular features. Kris crept closer to it as the 'Mecha's' Saphire like orb placed on it's chest gleamed abrubtly, even though this concerned Kris, she was not afraid and stopped right infront of it. The man who had called all of the pilot's names earlier, had been inspecting Kris's reactions towards the other 'Mecha's' although, he was not surprised that Kris had picked up interest in that particular one. He walked upto her, confidently and elegantly, seemingly cocky and snickered when he got right beside her.
"I don't think you'd like to pilot that one..." he sighed trying to discomfort her to choose another 'Mecha' "that is, if it even let's you pilot it for even a split second!" he bursted in laughter.
"I don't understand why 'it' wouldn't..." Kris questioned while looking upto the 'Mecha's' 'eyes'.
"That is a simple question to answer my dear" swiftly he tried to win her over, thing that only made her attitude increase into a defensive manner, but she continued to listen his attempt to persuade her "this Machine, Machina, Mecha, whatever or however you prefer to call it, has never permited anyone inside, and somebody that does crawl up that 'thing' is immediately ejected or expulsed out from it. Perhaps it's somewhat temperamental..." he chuckled when he finished and looked at Kris, trying to see if he managed to discontent her.
She only seemed to make her smile, staying positive.
"Well... like it or not, I'd like to try it out... and if it find's it in it's heart to let me pilot it, perhaps..." she was abruptly interruped by his infernal laughter.
"Ahahaha! Are you mad woman?!? That thing would step on you and kill you to kingdom come for all it would care, and heart? Where do you live? Fantasy-Land?!?" his voice reached the other group of males and they started to laugh in a synchronized manner.
This started to annoy her, but deep down in her mind, she knew she could perhaps stand a chance.
"Perhaps... I could show you... what Im made of..." Kris murmured to herself not caring that he could possibly say next.
"Besides" the man started to cease his laughter "that thing has been there for so long, it couldn't even hurt a fly".
"I bet it could break you mercilessly like a little toothpick..." the words echoed in her mind, being annoyed and slightly mad.
All of a sudden, in the midst of ther laughter, a screeching alarm started to sound all over the place, red lights flashed on the walls while a screen lit on infront of them. The screen was 'huge', it would be hard to miss. A young blond woman nervously looked at the camera and scaredly spoke a frightening message.
"All pilots in all the S.A.'s and hangars, please proceed out of Celestia Centra and into the 'Battle Field'! We have different enemy signatures approaching at top speed, fellow pilots, please protect Celestia Centra!" the screen shut off as soon as she had finished.
"Well, you heard her! Out to the battlefield you go!" one of the men that had been giving the 'Mecha's' maintenance yelled.
"But we're not even pilots yet!" one of the young men that had been called out expressed.
"We haven't even practiced anything!" the other complained.
"Cowards..." Kris whispered to herself looking at them scattering around, not knowing what to do.
"Come on! There's a reason you have been chosen! Don't be such scaredy cat's and get out there!" the man with the list shouted.
Kris couldn't help but to then stare at the 'Mecha' that she wanted to pilot.
"Maybe just a chance...".
Suddenly, the 'Mecha' started to move and bent towards Kris and gently picked her up then lifted her to stare at her closely. Kris waved her hand, it seemed to be in a mocking manner but she was just trying to be friendly. Slowly, the 'hatch' opened, the Saphire like orb divided in two. Delicately, the 'Mecha' 'inserted' Kris into itself, accepting her as her new pilot, ready follow her orders, but Kris was simply overwhelmed and was absolutely oblivious to this fact. What she did was gasp in amazement, as she was mildly dragged by some sort of thick wires into the cockpit, where the manual controls were.
But just before Kris could grasp the controls, she was lifted above the interior floor, her clothes shone, suddenly changing into some kind of suit, specially designed to pilot this 'Mecha'. The wires were slowly injected through her spine, giving her another type of use in the controls.
"Oh... I get it... this will not limit my manual controls... it will make it easier to..." once more, Kris was overwhelmed by excitement.
Though, this happened in a matter of seconds, Kris was prepared to 'lift off' and close into the battlefield. A screen lit infront of her, to what it seemed to be projected in it was a commander.
"Kris, apprentice pilot requesting permission to board out into the battlefield".
"Request accepted, head out there and defend Centra" the commander affirmed.
Without hesitation, she quickly took control over her new 'Mecha' and walked out, going through the 'Warning' marked doors. The warning was simply stating to be careful that possible 'Mecha's' would head in and out of this area.
The rest of the men were perplexed while an experienced pilot walked in and laughed then commented "Unbelievable, a woman heads out of here in fifteen seconds, and you haven't even picked a Mecha yet" he laughed at the rest as he got aboard his 'Mecha' and headed out as well.
