"In no way does man come so close to flying than he does in water" A man said sitting there flicking ash off of his cigar. A little boy age six sat across staring at the water and looking glassy eyed with sleep. "Why did we get up so early grandpa?" the little boy said in a whiney way. He sat in the boat looking out of the prow. "Do you want to eat tonight eh?" The grandpa said in a way, that would make any little boy sit up straight and nervous. "Ye...yes I guess so" He pouted and looked out. The grandpa sat carving at a piece of wood he has been doing for the lasy half an hour he would only stop carving at the statue to flick his cigar or check the lines to see if any fish have bitten.
The little boy now felt more bored and despondent then he was feeling an hour ago. /fishing is so stupid/ He looked at the glassy opaque reflection of himself in the water. He could see clouds he could see the blinding image of the sun. It was amazing. when he looked out he could see the dead silence of the lake and the occasional duck quack. It was boring and dull. He looked to the water, look how it resembles the sky he thought. He stared dreamily wishing he was a brave and bold pilot. "Huh" he let out a super exasperated sigh. The grandfather looked and responded merely with "Eh" he went back to carving and cursing as he went. The boy felt sad.
"Psst" the little boy jumped startled and looked out the the side of the boat. "Psst!" He heard it again this time from the starboard side. He peeked over the side of the boat to see an elegantly dressed girl sitting before him. "who...who.... are you" he said sheepishly looking at this girl. She had curls in the right places and her dress was made out of the most elegant lace he has seen. (Mind you he does live an impoverished life so simple lace dresses can be the most stunning thing" He peeked and saw her there. The little girl just giggled he could see her on the side of the boat. The grandfather after smoking the last bit of his cigar took a brief nap. The little girl laughed and looked at the boy. "Do you want to fly" She said. The little boy now somewhat starry-eyed and yet wary nodded. " I want to fly. " He said. "Follow me" She said. Now the little boy looked around. "where are you?" the little boy said. "In the water." the girl said " it helps me fly." The boy now had grown more courageous. He stood up and looked at the girl. " I want to be a pilot" He said and then with the slightest of ease he jumped off the boat.
The dark water began to pull him down he was sinking deeper and deeper. The grandfather began calling to him. But the boy was too far under to hear his grandfather's calls. He sank deeper as he sunk he began to fly. "Hehehe this is fun!" He called to the girl. As he soared in the sky. He could feel an unbearable stinging in his chest, it nagged him it bothered him. He flew next to the lace dress girl. He spreaded his arms and felt the weightlessness and the freedom to move with out gravity. He could spread his arms and soar. He felt the nagging chest pain though along with black vision. He giggled. Until.... He saw clouds more light........ darkness......light....... screams....... pain..... "AHHHHH" the boy seized and retched. He was gasping. "Where is my grandpa, where am I?" He blinked and coughed. and saw men around him numerous amounts of men. The grandfather now comforted with the thought of knowing his grandson was alive ran and hugged him, in a tense but warm loving matter.
Close to them the boy saw inspectors standing next to what looked like a yard mulch. As the boy glanced deeper he saw that the splotchy brown and tan. As he looked closer he saw it was a dress as he looked he saw that close to him was the decomposed remains of the girl he flew with. Her pale green skin shown close her eyes were gone and her hair was dirty and unkempt from the time he met her. He turned over and feel asleep.
So in no way does man have the potential to fly and defy gravity than when man is in the water. The grace the beauty, along with its killing grip and dark secret.
