I've had plenty of embarrassing moments in my life. The one that happened today? Oh, I'll forget about it soon enough. It's not like I'll see the people again.
Still, I haven't been the most despised person in the room for a while!

The place: The mall food court
The time: 12-something -- very busy
The people: My mom, my 18 month old nephew, me, anonymous crowd

For some unholy reason, a dark and sadistic person put those little rides with wheels and whatnot in the food court. My nephew loves wheels. He screams about wheels. He SAW the wheels. WHEEL! WHEEL! YUCK! WHEEL!
I don't know why he started screaming yuck. I think it's his new word.
Unfortunately, it wasn't JUST screaming. It was crying, wailing, sobbing... the whole nine yards.
I became one of the people I always hated-- a person with an unceasingly shrieking child.
I wanted to yell 'The kid isn't mine! Nephew! I'm not the one for lack of discipline!' Heck, I wanted to abandon him.
I was just plain mortified.
People were staring at us, glaring at us, moving tables...
Ethan was unconsolable.
We even /went/ to the $^$%ing wheel and he did NOT STOP SHRIEKING! He... I don't know... he wanted a different wheel. I think he wanted the duck-shaped one in a different area of the mall.
Having grabbed some food, my mom and I fled the mall. Ethan didn't stop wailing until we were driving in the car.
It was insane.
Utterly insane.
Mom said as bad as a child as I was in the fit-throwing area, I would at least stop screaming.
We're back at my sister's house now.
I still feel like he hates me. Like I couldn't console him and now I should just... DIAF or something.
Unm... I suppose I should go walk him. He's pretty calm, ate some chicken. Maybe he'll take a nap.
I wonder if it's too much to ask an 18 month old to 'wait' or that we'll do something later?
