"I know what you're doing," Sly said, pulling Kojin aside. "You need to leave. Call it quits before your Schizophrenia gets any worse."
"I don't have Skizophrenia," Kojin muttered again. Sly eyed him carefully. He had a look that obviously stated 'I don't believe you'.
"You talk to yourself all the time, whether you are aware of it not."
"Whatever. It doesn't matter." Kojin muttered once again. "I already did quit anyways. I was sick of hallucinating and the constant annoyance known as Dr. Himoshi," Kojin admitted.
"Good. Let me brief you in on what went on this moring that you missed. The Rose Order, also known as my followers, were disbanded, and we finally found another artifact." Sly recited.
"An artifact?" Kojin asked, surprised. "Which one is it?"
"The Choker of Pegasus."
"The wielder of it gets the ability to fly, right?"
"Precisely. Seeing as you have wings naturally, I took the liberty of giving it to Artemis."
"Why her?" Kojin asked.
"Because," Sly responded, "Kalena was thrilled with the thought of flying, but instead I gave her the Bracer of Power. She seemed overjoyed."
Kojin thought about it. Kalena was scary with her natural strength, but with the Bracer of Power, she would be downright horrifying. "So you gave the choker to Artemis, then..."
"See, that was the intention, but last night, someone broke in and stole it."
Kojin quirked a brow. "Someone got past you?"
"Not exactly how you may think. You see, I attempted to stop the intruder, so I went in to stop him from leaving. However, during the battle, someone was able to sneak in, and hit me in the back of the head."
"So whoever it was got away..." Kojin finished Sly's explanation.
"Precisely." Sly said again. "This wouldn't be an issue if it weren't for two details. One, the artifact was stolen."
"And two?" Kojin asked, somewhat dreading the answer.
"Two, the person that stole it was Eruta, the orc, ogre mix that killed your parents..." Sly said.
Kojin's heart stopped. "That's impossible..." Kojin growled. He was obviously pissed. "I killed that b*****d one year ago. You were there!"
"I know. That's why I was able to identify him."
Kojin remained silent. He fumed, aggravated at the fact that he didn't seem to have any luck. Finally he spoke. "I'll get the choker back." He said. "And I'll kill that freak of nature while I'm at it..." He stormed off.
Sly sighed. It hadn't been the answer he had been looking for, but in all honesty, he expected it.
~~~
Kojin moved quickly through a forested region just South of Mount Dokuji where Sly and everyone naturally gathered.. He was sure he was catching up. Tracking down Eruta at his size was not exactly a difficult task.
Off in the distance from the direction he had come, he heard the sound of a twig breaking. He hid behind a tree, waiting for whoever it was to catch up. A few moments passed before his stalker did officially catch up.
Kalena walked past him, not noticing his presence.
Kojin grabbed her from behind, placing one hand over her mouth, and the other around her waist. She seemed to act instinctively.
Slamming her heel down onto Kojin's foot, the sound that resounded was none other than the crunch of multiple bones breaking. Kojin let her go, and attempted to back up, but his attempt was thwarted when her elbow collided with his gut. His pupils shrank from the impact.
Kalena spun, sweeping Kojin's feet out from under him. He landed on his back with a soft thud. For a moment, he merely laid there, dazed and dizzy.
Kalena freaked out slightly. "I'm sorry, Kojin. You shouldn't sneak up on me like that!" She said, blushing from embarrassment.
"You were following me," Kojin reminded her, standing up.
"Sly asked me and Artemis to follow you." Kalena said.
"I don't need help from you or Artemis. You'd be better off going back." He looked around suddenly realizing that he couldn't find Artemis. "Speaking of whom, where is she?"
"She was right behind me." Kalena said, looking back.
"Kal? Kal, where'd you go? Koji?" Kojin heard a familiar voice again. This time he wasn't focused on her. He had bigger goals in his head. Much bigger.
"You get artemis, and follow if you want, just stay out of my way..." He growled at Kalena. He turned and stormed off. A common action for him.
"d**k..." Kalena muttered angrily.
~~~
Kojin stepped into a clearing. The forest had opened into a vast, open field, but Kojin didn't have much of a chance to take in the scenery. He sidestepped as a sword flashed, grazing his shoulder. He had out Hisiyuma in an instant swinging it up, parrying a downward cleave, and holding it in place.
On the other end of the blade he was holding back, was a nine-foot tall, green skinned org-ogre mix. It was not a pretty sight.
Kojin scowled. While most would cower in fear before this half-breed, Kojin stood his ground. The sound of steel sliding across steel marked motion as Kojin slid sideways around the creature that had been hastily named Eruta by Kojin's father. It was elven for 'Untamed'. Eruta's sword hit ground with such force, that it caused an explosion of earth.
Meanwhile, Kalena and Artemis saw Kojin through the treeline a split second before their vision was obscured by a cloud of dirt.
Artemis jumped slightly. "Kojin!" She yelped as she rushed past Kalena, who climbed into a tree see if she could get a better view of the situation. All seemed quiet, as Artemis slowed to a stop about ten feet from the dirt cloud. Suddenly, the window called silence was shattered by the sound of metal hitting bone.
Artemis felt her heart stop. She was scared. She didn't know who had gotten hit. She shook her head, not sure of what to think. Smoke had covered two creatures, but when the screen dissipated, three remained.
Kojin had his sword buried deep into Eruta, but a cloaked figure had his sword buried into Kojin's side. Kojin was shaking, obviously in a vast amount of pain.
The man withdrew his blade from Kojin, who pulled his own blade back, which he almost instantly dropped, falling to his knees, clutching his wounded side. He glanced up at the man's face beneath the cloak, and was suddenly filled with terror.
The cloaked man stepped forward, grabbing something from around Eruta's neck. Eruta's body promptly fell over, unleashing another cloud of dirt.
"No you don't!" Kalena yelled, launching herself from the tree an impressive twenty yards away. She landed in the cloud of dirt, but hadn't struck home with her attack. She cursed as she realized he had already disappeared.
Artemis screamed. It was a bit of a delayed reaction, but it was all because of Kojin, who was holding his side, which was now stained red. It wasn't a long, overly loud scream as it was more of a staccato yelp. She helped him to his feet, struggling a little bit to do so.
"Are you okay, Kojii?" Artemis asked, scared. She wasn't exactly talking about the wound. She had it more directed towards the terrified look he held in his eye.
"That man just now..." Kojin stared blankly at the ground for a moment, then looked Artemis in the eyes as best as he could with his facemask still on. "His name is Enrilar Balric Fuyuki... He is my father..."
So I posted it up a day early. Oh well. I hope you all enjoy!
