You're perfect. Don't cry. You and your sister... are perfect.
The young girl heard these words, but didn't understand. She wanted to say something, but her body could no longer do anything. She felt herself fall down a hole; it had no boundaries, no colors, just a vast space. She saw her sister falling beside her. Her body was changing before her dead eyes. It grew taller, lovelier, older... the young girl felt it too, her body changing. But why? They were dead, weren't they? She saw her sister fall faster, then disappear. The girl once again, wanted to tell her sister to wait, wanted to say something, but her body could not comply. Instead, she felt her mind split in half, and suddenly she felt her eyes were lying to her-- she could see herself falling beside a man-- blonde, curly hair and a masculine face with tired lines detailed just below his closed eyes-- but why were there two of her? She was right there, behind the man in the distance, but she was also right beside the man, as her eyes told. They disappeared from the blank space at same time, but the girl was still falling. She wanted to follow those two people she'd seen just a second ago... and her sister... then suddenly, she disappeared too. When she could finally feel her body move again, she opened her eyes, to find she was in her house again, lying in bed. Completely baffled, she tried talking. "...Am I dead?" and clasped her hands over her mouth, surprised by how much deeper her voice sounded, and by her ability to hear and speak words and again. The door opened and a familiar, but older-than-remembered face came in and exclaimed, "Wow Sharon, you're up early!"
~Heart Angel~ A trial of lives...
Sharon... Sharon... that was her name, she remembered now. But... did she and her sister, Christina... what happened..? Why were they so much older all of a sudden? Unsure, Sharon simply played along, and kindly greeted her sister. Apparently, according to the Christina that was elatedly telling her to hurry up getting ready, today was the first day of school. Sharon was going into 8th grade, and Christina was going to be a sophomore. But the last time Sharon remembered... she was only in 2nd grade... Then something caught Sharon's attention on her sister.
"Christina..? How long have you had that jewel on your forehead?" Christina gave her a confused look for a moment, then looked in the mirror. Seeing an upside down cyan triangular jewel on her forehead, touching it for a second, she paused, and whispered under her breath, "When did I--" then remembered Sharon was right there, and spoke up, "Ha ha! What's wrong with you, you know I've always had this jewel! I-I got it... when we were little!" Putting on a smile for her sister, she left the room to get the rest of her things together. Once she reached the kitchen, she heard the sound of a car coming into the driveway. Christina let out an exaggeratedly annoyed sigh and walked up to the door, to see a familiar face waiting outside.
Still in her room, Sharon felt uneasy. Not only could she tell that Christina was just as baffled just then as she was, but... it was when Christina said, 'when we were little...' when she tried to remember, nothing came to her mind. Absolutely nothing. When she tried to remember what she herself looked like, she couldn't even pretend to picture something. By the time she'd gotten to the kitchen though, she forgot about her worries, upon seeing her sister comically arguing with someone.
"Oh please, Christina, must you always be so rash?"
"Why don't you just leave, Lucas, it's not like she wants to see you anyways!"
"We're best friends! Of course she'll be happy to see me!" Suddenly, Christina and this Lucas person paused, and noticed Sharon laughing. Lucas kindly greeted his "best friend," giving Christina a childish 'I-told-you-so' look. Christina rolled her eyes.
"Okay, I don't care; you're NOT giving her a ride to school!"
"And why not? I'm a safe driver--"
"Safe driver my a**! I'm not about to lose my sister to an insane Junior in high school. God, I will never get why you insist on hanging out with an 8th grader anyways. You're a bad influence on her in my opinion." Lucas shook his head.
"Goodness Christina, you're such a mother..." Christina bit her lip, then sighed.
"Ugh, fine, give her a ride. But I SWEAR, if you get in any form of a car wreck--"
"YES, I know, let's go!"
"Who's 'let's?'" Lucas opened his mouth, ready to say, 'me and Sharon,' Sharon could tell. But Sharon decided to interrupt,
"The three of us; if you're so worried, why don't you just come with, Christina?" Christina thought for a second, and nodded her head.
"I don't trust his driving skills... but fine, let's go." The three of them loaded their things in Lucas's car. Sharon suddenly remembered the jewel on Christina's forehead again. 'Why didn't Lucas say anything about it?' Sharon thought... in fact, she'd just then realized-- why could she remember Lucas as a little kid, but not herself..?
