Aya-Death Angel
Mostly poetry, no real deep thought. Just a place for momentary bursts of creativity.
Say goodbye, the shutters are closing,
The door is locked, the windows barred,
The cat on the hearth is dozing,
His old ears ragged and scarred.

There is a knock, knock, knocking at the door,
The scraping of a chair echoes in the room,
Says the stranger, "Have you room for one more?"
Says I, "Nay, I haven't enough for my tomb."

I knew then that stranger at my door was Death,
Come to take me away and drag me down,
He has surely found out I was about to breathe my last breath,
As the rumors whispered about the town.

"I have not come to take, but to give," says he, garbed in black.
Cautiously, I unbar the door and let him in,
He enters, he with the scythe on his back,
Enters in a blast of chilling wind.

"I thank you," he says, taking a seat,
"The journey has been long and I am weary."
" 'Tis not a problem," I say, fearing deceit,
Even though of his company I am leery.
