fruit platter!
and the rain fell.
It was raining.

Well, saying that it was raining would be an understatement. It was absolutely pouring down with rain, and the members of the house were trapped inside. If Slovakia hated one thing in the world, it was that - being locked up in the house and not being able to go out and be free. All she wanted to do was go out and go for a few laps in the pool.. but alas, the overcast prevented her from fulfilling her desire. "This isn't any fun." she muttered to herself.

Though it was strange, Slovakia seemed to be the only one on the lower level of the house. She was sitting in the kitchen at the table next to the window, violet-gray eyes gazing out into the backyard. It was a bit of a pitiful sight; such a pretty girl looking so grim. Slovakia hadn't been the same ever since she figured out that her sister was living in the house as well. Her friends were still close to her, of course, but it was the thought of her sister becoming the better-liked one out of the two that scared her. It may have been stubborn, it may have been strange, even - but that's just how she was. Slovakia kept telling herself that she wouldn't let her sister get in the way of her happiness, but that was easier said than done.

Slovakia looked down at the blank piece of lined paper that was on the table in front of her. English homework. The assignment? Writing about your favourite person in the world. For most people this would be a piece of cake, but in Libena's case, it was extremely difficult for her to choose just one person. There was her good friend Lebanon - a fairly quiet but very beautiful, exotic girl.. then there was Romano or Spain, her first true friends from the house.. then there was Poland.. plus she could always write about France. He wouldn't mind that, but she didn't want to give people the wrong idea. If anything, the two of them had a.. a strange, brother-sister relationship. Yes, something like that, though he still often tried to grope her. The blond-haired girl shook her head slightly as a quiet laugh escaped her lips.

Her 'chain of thought' was broken when she heard a noise. Were those..? Yes, they were footsteps. Slovakia looked up and was slightly shocked when she recognized the figure who was making it's way towards her. It was Poland. If she was any other nation, this would be fine.. however, Slovakia had a huge crush on the crossdressing boy. Her sister would make fun of her for this, but Slovakia had found her own way of blocking out her sisters' teasing. Realizing that she was probably staring at the Polish boy, Slovakia quickly snapped out of her dream like state and finally spoke.

"Oh, h-hey Poland, what're you doing here..?" she asked like a fool. Great, he probably thought that she didn't want him here or something.. she actually would appreciate the company. Hell, she'd love company from ANYBODY - including her sister. "Not, uh, th-that I'm glad to see you." she retorted quickly, rubbing the back of her head.

"I like, totally can't find Liet and there's nothing to do.." Poland whined. Libena blinked a few time before smiling warmly, trying to think of something to say to him. She really hoped that Russia hadn't gotten to Lithuania.. she herself was fine with Russia, but he was known to be awfully cruel to Lithuania.. the Baltics.. hell, most people. "A-ah, I'm sorry to hear that, I'm just d--" "What're you doing, anyways? It like, doesn't look that fun either.." Normally, Slovakia would get sort of annoyed if somebody interrupted her, but for Poland she'd obviously make an exception. With another warm smile, she laughed quietly and glanced down at her paper. "English homework. It's.. not really all that interesting.." she trailed off.

As Poland sat down next to her and seemed to study the blank piece of paper, Slovakia's pulse began to quicken. She'd been a close friend of his for a very long time now, though she often wished she was more.. even after all of these years of being 'bffs' as Poland so affectionately called them, she still got butterflies when she was around him. It was a bit silly, but she just couldn't help herself. "...there's, like, nothing here." Poland commented quietly, glancing from Slovakia to the blank paper. "I don't really have m-much inspiration, I'm ... supposed to write... about.." Slovakia's speech slowed as she scanned Poland up and down. Ah, yes, the years had trained her well. She could now tell exactly when he stopped listening, and it was now.

"...what do you want to do, d-do you have any ideas..?" the blond nation asked Poland, adjusting her chair so she could see him better. She watched carefully as Feliks put his hand on his chin and began to think of things that the two of them could do together. He was just so darn cute when he was thinking, there were no two ways around it.. he'd never know that, though. She'd never be able to get up the courage to tell him; she'd be alone for the rest of her life.. Slovakia's depressing thoughts were interrupted when she heard Poland's voice.

"You should, like, totally teach me some Slovak!" he stated, taking his hand off of his chin. This suggestion clearly caught Libena off guard. Teach him? Why would he want to know? Their languages were so close already, he could sometimes pick up some words when her sister and her would bicker.. but teaching him some random sayings couldn't hurt, right? "A-alright, uh.. say.. čo máme, o to nedbáme a za iným sa zháňame." she said wit absolute ease. "We disregard what we've got, always chasing what we've not." she looked at him with an expectant smile. The look on his face was almost priceless.

"...čo máme, o no nedbáma a zha iným sai zháňame..?" Poland struggled out in a low mutter, almost as if he knew that he was getting something wrong. Slovakia did her best to suppress a laugh as she shook her head. "N-No, Poland, čo máme, o to nedbáme a za iným sa zháňame." she repeated, this time a bit slower. Maybe she should have tried an easier saying, this one was a little difficult..

"Čas a trpelivosť ruže donáša. Time and patience bring roses." she said slowly, looking over at him. "Čas a trpolivesť ruži donáša." he said once again, this time with a bit more confidence. Smiling yet again, Slovakia shook her head. "Nope, try again.. Čas a trpelivosť ruže donáša." she repeated. As Poland tried to say it once again, Slovakia couldn't help but notice that the rainy day was getting a lot sunnier. Not outside, of course - but inside. Her dark mood had been lightened thanks to the crossdressing boy.

"Čas a trpelivosť ruže donášu." Feliks said once again, closer this time. "Y-you almost got it! Čas a trpelivosť ruže donáša." she said once more, hoping that Poland would get the last word. The one word that he seemed to mess up on last time. "Donáša. Doh-nah-shah."

"Milujem ta."

Slovakia felt her heart flutter before sinking into her gut. She.. she couldn't believe her ears. Milujem ta.. that was nothing close to what she had taught him to say. Heck, it was a whole 'nother word, a whole different phrase. If it was any other phrase she'd be fine with it, but this phrase.. it was different. "...wh-what?" she asked, completely and totally dumbfounded. Poland seemed to be smirking. He... almost seemed like he'd somehow gotten closer to her, as well. "Milujem ta. Like, what does that mean?" he asked her once again.

Libena's heart sunk down once again. Oh, of course. He just wanted to know what it meant. He wasn't saying it to her or anything like that, he'd never feel that way towards her. He probably just picked it up when he heard Fiala speaking to somebody when she was drunk.. so there'd be no harm in telling him, right?

Even if she was just explaining things, she still found it extremely difficult to get those three little words out. "I-I-I, u,uh, l-l-lo.." she stammered out, looking from the blank sheet of 'homework' to Poland. Though it seemed like she was just saying it to tell him what it meant, she was actually pushing herself to say the real thing. To say how she really meant. Poland was still sitting there, smirking like he knew what she was going through. Taking in a deep breath and slowly exhaling, Slovakia bit down on her lip and glanced up at him.

"...I....l-love you.." she finally choked out, looking down at her paper once again. She felt... sick to her stomach, to be honest. This wasn't how she imagined confessing her love to Poland.. or maybe she didn't? He didn't know. He didn't know that when she said it she meant so much more.. but then again, a vibrant pink blush was painted across her face and she was stammering like she was freezing. As she was sitting there thinking, however, she didn't notice Poland. He'd put his hand on her chin. Slovakia didn't snap out of her thoughts until she felt soft lips press against her own.

Out of shock, Slovakia gasped and her eyes widened. W-was this really happening!? She had to be dreaming. Before she knew it, she was kissing Poland back, eyes closed, heart fluttering in her chest. This was way better than her first kiss, it felt so.. well, right. She'd been waiting for this for so long, and now that it was here, she never wanted it to end. There was one thing that she couldn't figure out, though.. why did he do that? Did he have feelings for her? All this time she thought that he liked Lithuania, but.. apparently that wasn't true at all.

The kiss had ended just as abruptly as it had began. Slovakia sat there, staring wide-eyed at Poland, who himself seemed to be blushing a little bit as well. Neither of them were speaking. After a long moment of silence, Libena decided to try to get some words out. To try to ask him.. why he did that. "Wh...P...I.." she choked out, before watching Poland grin. "Well, then, like, milujem ta." he said, cutting her off. He leaned in swiftly and kissed her quickly one more time before rushing off.

Slovakia sat there dumbfounded as she stared down at her paper. She now had inspiration.
