Thrown out of my mellow
Into a plate covered in the syrup
Of bitter confusion and despair
I long for something sweet
A chocolate,
an ice cream,
a sprinkles and frosting covered cupcake.
I want something to help me escape
These melancholy feelings,
This taste of dread,
The smell of dead animal rotting away.
Slowly decaying on the side of the road,
I watch it as we drive by.
As if out of the blue I ask,
"Do you have a mint?"
