It wouldn't fit so I posted a link to this journal instead.
This is the story of "Kaguya's return"
This is based on a Japanese folktale called “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter”. If you’ve never heard it, I suggest you skim it Here.
She began her decent from Tuki no Miyako just as she had a little under a century ago, Only this time she was three times the height, And possessed thirty times the beauty. She sat delicately upon her steed in all her gentle grace, And her horse strode down to the mountain of Fuji carrying the Princess, Down to the place she had last graced with her presence.
At last, she had settled everything at Tsuki no Miyako, And it was finally time to visit the emperor again. When she arrived, she immediately noticed something buried in the snow. Quite to her dismay, she uncovered it only to find the vessel she had given the emperor the elixir of life in, And as a tear rolled down her cheek, She felt the weight of a thousand fears pressing on her lungs.
Her usual radiance began to lose its typical lustrous gleam, But she eventually brought herself to not give up just yet. She mounted her horse again, and rode down to the city with haste. When she arrived, She sought out council with the head Guard.
“Kaguya, is that you?”
“Yes, it is I. And where is the Emperor?”
“You didn’t expect him to live forever, now did you?”
“Well, yes actually. I did. I gave him the elixir of life before my departure, and a letter along with it.”
“Oh yes! I’m Sorry Kaguya-Hime. It seems old age has made my memory weary and distorted.” The man slid in to a smile with tears on his face.
“Are you ok sir?”
“Oh yes…” He sighed. “I was just recalling how sweetly he reasoned, how much he loved you.”
Kaguya began to tear up uncontrollably. She dropped to her knees. “Tell me it isn’t so, kind sir!”
He placed a hand on her shoulder comfortingly.
“How foolish of me! Why didn’t I see this before?” Kaguya’s tears continued to stream down her face, and as she eventually gained her composure and mounted her horse to ride through the sakura orchard back into the skies, she was only further troubled by thoughts of why she now had to live without him for eternity.
And I'll post a link to my avatar entry so you can vote when I get it: Here it is! Please help me get as far as possible in week 49? Thanks! ;3
