I am a girl.
Just a simple, teenage girl of seventeen.
Not quite eighteen, not quite sixteen.
Older than a child, younger than a real adult.
I am a girl.
I am in love.
He’s just a simple boy of seventeen.
Not quite a boy, yet still not a man.
Old enough to speak, but young enough to yell.
He is a boy.
And I love him for it.
I am a girl.
No longer a simple teenage girl of seventeen.
Not quite human, not quite a monster.
I will no longer age, and will stay seventeen.
I am a girl.
Or at least I think I’m in love.
He is a simple boy of seventeen,
Aging like any simple human boy would.
He will become the man he wishes to be.
He is human.
And I hate him for it.
I am a boy.
I am a teen, and I am strong, and you will hear me roar.
I am indestructible to everything.
Once I become a man, I will conquer.
I am a boy.
But she always makes me feel weak.
She’s just a simple girl.
At age seventeen, she still so simple.
She is simple.
And she is my weakness.
I am a boy.
I do not want to be a teen, I do not want to be strong, and I want to cry.
I have seen just how fragile I am.
I do not want to be a man just yet.
I am a boy.
But she showed me real strength.
She’s no longer just a simple girl.
At age seventeen she’ll forever stay.
She is real, true, and simple strength.
And she could no longer be called my weakness.
“NEWS REPORT: A terrible accident has just struck Northville High School!”
“What’s going on, Jenny?”
“Apparently a Junior by the name of Jane Summers has been hit by a bullet and killed!”
“Oh Lord, who shot the gun?”
“Well- Oh, wait, we’re getting an update… oh my God, you can’t be serious.”
“Jenny? What’s going on?”
“Apparently it wasn’t a bullet, but some sort of creature? I’m not sure what that means, Ron, but I can tell you one thing, it’s not looking good for poor Jane.”
“Jenny, what’s that behind you?”
“What’s what- OH MY GOD.”
“Jenny? Jenny!”
“…what‘s going on? Is there something wrong?”
“Oh my Jesus…”
“Ron, it looks like Ms. Summers will live, but… she’s so pale…”
“Pale? What do you mean, Jenny?”
“Pale enough to look like she’s dead.”
“Jane, are you all right?”
“I‘m fine! I don‘t know what you guys are worrying about-”
“Jane, look at yourself! You’re the exact shade as this piece of paper!”
“No I‘m not! Stop lying to me, I‘m FINE.”
“And your voice! Jane, there is something wrong with you!”
“THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ME - what the?!”
“Jane!”
“Milly… there‘s something - NOTHING - in my head!”
