"Tera! Stop lazing about and get back to work! There's thirsty sailors!" The strong voice of the male bar owner called into the back room of the pub. a girl with medium length brown hair sat up on the sack of flour she had been laying on. She had a quick nap during her break while working, and now it happened to be time to get back to work. She stood up, and she walked out behind the bar, to look at the owner. He smiled at her, and nodded to mugs of beer, and told her to go to the table in the corner where there were already tipsy to drunk sailors singing loudly. She sighed as she did her job. Many sailors flocked to this pub in particular because of her. there was a rumor that if a captain gazed into her aqua marine eyes, his ship would have good fortune on its next journey. She thought it was a bunch of rubbish, but it didn't hurt business, which is why she assumed it was the bar owners doing that such a story was spread about.
She sighed as she put the mugs of foam and beer on the tables and they cheered loudly. She waved her hands to calm them down a bit, "Fellas, please calm down a bit, I know your happy to be on shore for a bit, but I don't want to have to punish you for being to loud!"
"Look at her eyes, men! This must be the proclaimed Sea Goddess!" The captain shouted as he took her chin in his hand and directed her gaze to him, "Ah, such a pretty color for eyes... Thank you! Now I shall have good luck when we go off to the next country!"
"Hey! No man handling the barmaid!" The owner called and the captain and his men laughed as she was let go to serve the rest of her customers.
This was the age of pirates and wars on the sea, and this was the most popular city, Selbania, on the Western seaboard. The pub was world renowned, and she was as well. She had come from a different country, but she felt suppressed by her people. Always forced by the king to go to send off's for his ships. She was worshiped as a goddess there, but held as a prisoner. She sought freedom and stowed away on a ship to a land she could be free in. And that land was Vatra. The king there had not sought after her yet, and she was glad, she did not wish to live that life again, but she could not move away from the sea, she felt more comfortable near the water.
"I'm leaving now.." she said as she shoved her tips into her money pouch. She had a small house to herself on the ocean front, she could afford it because of the vast amounts of money in tips. She pulled her cloak around her shoulders, and walked down the cobble stone street, past the docks where ships of all sizes were resting before they were sent off again. "The sea...." she looked out at the water, "Truly it is the most amazing thing in the world..."
