Original Story - RPing for Polar Bears
By: Angelic Tune Written 15 03 2010 (DD MM YYYY)

It was a mind bogglingly cold day out in the town of Tamar somewhere in Canada way up north. I sat into my brothers seat, the swively one, and his luminescent computer screen filled the dark gloomy room with light. In fact, it has been dark for seven days, ten hours, and 34 seconds, 35 seconds, 36... but who's counting? That's besides the point, I was looking for a game to entertain me while the rest of my family was out at a wedding. I couldn't go cause I am sick with the flu, bummer am I right? Anyways, the crazy began when I started playing a game called Gaia. It wasn't really a game, but more of an online community of epic proportions with so many amazing different cloths and accessories, utter brilliance I tell you!

So as I flashed through all the different pages I realized something I could do in the forums that was unexplainably the best thing that ever happened to me, a little something called role play, or RP for short. Now, you might be thinking "Is this guy out of his mind!? RPing is no fun at all!" Then sir/madam you are quite wrong. Of course it is based all on opinion, but I find role playing to be something that removes you from the stress and pain of everyday life for the couple of minutes it takes to click the "Post Reply" and simply reply to a post. Oh how great it feels to be a handsome warrior saving his friends from a burning palace on the back of a made up creature named "Wind". That's only my experience, how about you? Bah, I guess you'll find out if you ever decide to come and RP.

Now, getting back to my story, I was surprised when I saw someone barge right into our RP and claim he was the, and I quote "The bst RPwr onr he planetz!!" I was stunned and not amused, so I asked him what made him think he was so gosh darn good.
He sent me a PM saying "i dont trust ppl leik u."
So I sent one back asking "Is that what makes you so great at RPing?"
He didn't send anything back.

Days passed and the sun finally appeared from over the horizon, my life was just as boring as ever especially because my brother spilt milk all over his computer. I sat in my room staring out among the fields of frost and ice. I saw movement off in the distance which intrigued me because off in that direction was loose ice which shifts and cracks. I was told never to go over there unless of an emergency, I used the fact that if I didn't get out to do something I would go mentally insane as an emergency excuse. I grabbed my coat and left the house into the -20 below winds of Canada's north to search for the movement I saw off in the distance.

Upon approaching the site I noticed large footprints, non like I've ever seen before. The mystery began to pile up and I was dieing to find out what this ominous movement was that I saw from my bedroom window. The persistent winds batted against my body and bits of ice and snow were flung into my face. I couldn't see a thing and was discouraged from moving any further, so I turned around to leave. Suddenly the ice underneath shattered and I fell deep into a frosty canyon.

A crack of light shone through the frosty covering of the cave I was now in. I was sprawled on the floor, the strange heat pulsating up from the ground woke me with a startle. I stared up, seeing I was about two stories deep into a pit in the ice, I noticed nothing but the hole I fell through. I turned to push myself off the ground which is when I realized I wasn't on the floor, I was on a Polar Bear.

I jumped off the overgrown lump of fur and darted to the nearest corner I could find. It didn't move, but groaned when I ran, and kept on making grunting sounds occasionally. I quickly noticed blood underneath the white bear and slowly moved closer, circling around to it's front. The poor thing was suffering, it's leg had been snapped by the fall and it was bleeding excessively out of the wound. I approuched it slowly lowering myself to it's eye level so it wouldn't be threatened. The large beast shook and started to struggle to raise to it's feet, but collapsed again letting out a cry of agony. I heard footsteps above and looked up to see two other young polar bears looking over the chasm, their beady eyes sparkled anxiously.

I retreated back to my corner where I tried with all my might to climb, but every attempt led to failure. The polar bear moaned and cried, the emotion exuded by it brought tears to my eyes. Why couldn't I have been less foolish? Why couldn't I have just stayed home and followed the rules? I was crushed under my own stupidity, and I slumped to the ground in exhaustion. The polar bear behind me started to howl up at the gaping hole. I could hear the young polar bears join in on the chorus. It echoed through the cave and in my mind, vibrating my eardrums. At first I found it annoying, but then I realized it might attract help. I got up and looked up straight towards the icy roof and screamed at the top of my lungs "HHHEEEEELLLPP!!"

I was in the hole screaming for a good two hours before anything happened. I don't completely remember, but I think the polar bears even stopped at the hour mark, but I wasn't even sure how long it had been myself. I collapsed yet again and began to sob, I was hungry and tired and just wanted to be back at home. Suddenly a slight humming could be heard, it sounded like a snowmobile. A couple of seconds later the humming formed into two, no, three snowmobiles. I got up and screamed louder then ever "OVER HERE!" I called out. The snowmobile slowed to a halt and the polar bear cubs ran off in the opposite direction.

A head popped up from over the hole, he was big and burley, chubby face and wore bright red plaid. He turned around and called to his comrades and more heads popped up over the edge.
"Hey fellar, you okay down there?" The first man asked, grabbing something from behind him.
"Yes," I replied "I fell down into this hole with this poor polar bear, it's leg is broken and it's bleeding to death! Please help it!"
"Don't worry there, my friend ere' called fer an air pick up. Here grab onto this." The man called down, lowering some rope down slowly into the pit.
I grabbed onto the rope and he pulled me up, but I didn't leave the edge of the hole until the helicopter got to the danger zone. Everyone helped, even my family came and gave a hand. They were worried sick about me, but I was worried sick about the polar bear and it's cubs. The helicopter lifted the bear out of the hole and moved it to safe ground, the cubs showed up too. The people who saved us bandaged up the bear and gave it a cast for it's leg, sending it off. They said the polar bear had only sprained it's leg, the blood was from the impact from spikes of ice underneath that only broke the skin. I was relieved and watched the polar bear as it walked off into the horizon with it's cubs by it's side.

A week later I was awarded a plaque; Royal Protecing for Polar Bears. My family had it framed and put up in my room so I can always remember that even if I am reckless, if I do the right things I can be a hero. I thought that this was even better than being a make belief knight for the queens armada leading a war to protect all makind. On my plaque was a signiature from the man who initially pulled me out of the pit. It said "You are an official RPing for Polar Bears kiddo!" which made me laugh inside, or I guess made me 'lol'.

The funniest thing though, when my brothers computer was fixed later, I went back on Gaia. I wanted to see what ever became of those RPs while I was gone. When I logged in I had a message, it was the guy who thought he was the greatest RPer ever.
He had said "i am the best bcaus i am god of all RPing ppls."
I just laughed and said "Well I'm RPing for Polar Bears!"
