Shella paused. She was unsure of what to think.
"You- you're going back?"
Skye nodded. But he turned his head back to her.
"Is there a problem?"
Shella quickly shook her head.
"No, no, there isn't. I... hope it goes well. And... good luck, I
guess."
Skye sniggered.
"Are you wishing me well, Shella?"
Shella turned her head away from Skye quickly.
"No! I- I just mean- well... that everyone should be careful now!
So... don't keep them waiting!"
The corner of Skye's mouth curled up.
"Okay then. Thanks."
Skye turned back and continued.
Shella watched him walk away. She couldn't bare it anymore. She was
going to lose out to him. This time, her feelings over-powered her
stubborness.
She looked at the ground, tensed up her face and frowned.
"Don't go."
Skye stopped dead. He turned around with a suprised look on his face.
"What was that?"
Shella tried with all her might to hide her embarrassment.
"Don't go. I... I want you to stay."
Skye was now quite amused.
"Why?"
Shella gritted her teeth. He knew she was going to tell him.
"Because... I..."
She couldn't say it.
Skye walked up in front of her.
"Because?"
"Because I care about you..." Shella mumbled.
"Sorry?"
"Because I love you!!! Okay!?"
Shella shouted out her words stubbornly. But after she did, she kept
her eyes at the ground.
Skye was quite suprised. He was not expecting this.
Shella broke the long silence.
"There, you got what you wanted!"
Shella was now blushing heavily.
Skye raised an eyebrow.
"I got what I wanted?"
"Yes, now you can make fun of me even more." Shella replied
indignantly. "Congratulations."
Skye looked at her for a while. And then he laughed.
Shella sighed at first. But for some reason, his laugh sounded
different. It didn't sound like he was mocking her like usual. It
sounded... warm. It was a friendly laugh.
She looked up, and found Skye looking at her, with a very cheeky yet
warm smile on his face.
"You're something else." he said softly.
Shella was unprepared. Before she realized it, Skye lifted her chin
up, and kissed her deeply on the lips.
Shells froze, her eyes wide. What- what was going on? She didn't know
what to think. Since when did he- What was this!?
Shella couldn't think clearly. Skye's kiss was making her feel dizzy.
She closed her eyes. She was burning. Not only was she blushing a rose
red, but an amazing burning sensation washed across her body, from her
lips, to the tips of her toes and fingers.
Skye slowly pulled his lips away from hers. He smiled warmly.
"I didn't know your lips felt so nice."
Shella couldn't blush any heavier than she was now. She felt like
anything she said now held no consequence.
She put her arms around Skye and put her head on his chest.
"I don't want you to leave." she said softly.
Skye held her gently in return.
"I dont want to leave either. But, they need my help, Shella. I have
to go back."
Shella looked back up at Skye.
"Then let me come with you."
Skye sighed.
"You can never make things easy for me, can you? You know that I don't
want you getting hurt."
"Even if I have to sit on the sidelines. I-I want to at least travel
with- I just- I just want to be with you!" Shella looked up at Skye
pleadingly.
Skye looked at her carefully, and after some thought:
"You could be my navigator."
Shella's eyes went alight. She instantly became very excited.
"Really? You, you can make me your navigator?"
"Yeah, yeah, I can. But it doesn't mean I have to like it. You'll
still be in danger. We'll be dog-fighting most of the time."
"I don't care."
Skye raised an eyebrow.
"Really? Well, we'll find out by the time you get into the cockpit."
Shella creased her face irritably.
"Fine." she said stubbornly. "I'll show you."
Skye grinned cheekily.
"Somehow, I think you're stubborness will get you past your fear."
Shella blushed embarrassedly. She sighed and looked at the ground.
"I know, I know," she said with disappointment.
Skye chuckled warmly, and brought Shella's face gently back up to his.
"But that's why I fell for you," he said with a cheeky smile. "You're
strong."
Shella blushed a bright red, but she no longer cared. She wrapped her
arms around Skye and kissed him passionately.
Shella closed her eyes. Skye sent a wave of fire through her body. Her
whole body tingled under his kiss.
As Skye held onto her, Shella held him tighter.
How could the one guy who she argued with so stubbornly, make her feel
so good?
Shella never said it, but for once, she had let Skye win.
And she was glad she did.
