Tide was born to the King of The Ocean. She spends most of her day swimming in the deep when one day she went up to the surface. Her father always told her not to go, but the more he forbid her, the more she wanted to go. She went to the surface and gasped as she saw her first sight of birds. Every day after that she went to the surface to watch the birds fly. Soon, she made friends with them. "Oh, how I wish I could fly like you. But sadly, I am forever a prisoner of the sea." Oh how the bird wept for their friend.

One day tide came up and the birds had a present for her. It was a laurel made from their sacred home tree, and feathers from their very own wings. She smiled as she took the lovely gift they gave her. As she put the laurel on, she grew wing of her own. Tide flew with her new wings. Her father found her and was moved by the kindness of the birds, that he let his beloved daughter live with them. So into the sky she flew, forever known as the first Skymaiden of the Sea.
