Chapter 1
The young black wolf sat on the ledge cring over the family she had lost not so long ago. She pulled herself up and walked towards the river she had last seen them. She then drank greedy mounthfuls as if she would never get a chance to drink water again. She told herself what had happened several times already but she didn't want to belive it 'Why didn't they stay? Mother, Father!' She thought to herself. 'I'll never see them again.' She whimpered and walked into the den. She walked past where her and her pack used to sleep in a big heap and lied down on the empty place and cried herself to sleep.
'Im gonna have to teach myself how to hunt, father took Shade and the others I never thought I would need to hunt so I never paid attention I regret that now.' She felt a knot tighten in her stomach at the memory of her family she shrugged it off and began stalking a plump rabbit. She crouched and pounced forward with a loud snarl. The rabbit easily dodged the novice hunter. She sat down again and whimpered 'I knew I couldn't do this right, I guess Ill just eat bugs tonight.' She walked over to a tree covered in locusts and took a large greedy bite, it tasted terrible.
Later that day she spotted another rabbit, younger than the first and without warning pounced for it, this time it didn't get away. 'Well I guess I just needed a better reason to catch somthing' She was proud of herself and carried her kill back to the den. She finished the small meal and decided to sleep. 'I'll work harder tomarrow she told herself' and drifted off to sleep.
