Winston's Two Cents
Exchanging Guide

** more to be added to this guide.

I've analyzed the exchange enough to know how users work around things, and certain workarounds are becoming sorry excuses for many. Why I mean by that, is that the reason why people aren't affluent on Gaia, is that people don't take the initiative to better themselves that requires absolutely no coordination. You just need to know how to word posts in order to do well and thrive in the Gaian Exchange.

Press CTRL + F if you don't understand certain terminology - and search: DICSHUNARY

What is a point of satisfaction?

A point of satisfaction is when a buyer offers on your item, and they reach a point that you would consider an AB (Although, you would never tell them what your ideal offer is).

Autobuys -

It is very illogical to post an auto buy. Posting an auto buy effects not only you, but the people around you as well. When you set an autobuy, it gives buyers no chance to edge past your point of satisfaction. It makes you the weaker trader, and just states that you're either a.) desperate to sell, or b.) trying to get an offer that you'll never get.

If other users are attempting to take advantage of inflation, and if you own the same item that is being taken advantage of, let it be. Setting an auto buy lowers the possibility of the other user selling the same item/good for a profit. If they profit from the item, it heightens the chance of you profiting as well.

Beating someone to opportunity
ALWAYS take advantage of the marketplace listings. Although you may have no intention of paying market price, perhaps the user who has a listing in the marketplace is willing to take offers. Taking the initiative by PMing the user about possible deals is always a plus, and never a minus when offering on an item. Don't back down if the store says not to PM the user about their items/listings. Take the detour and comment them about it instead.

Personally, I wouldn't love to assume this, but more than half of the time, people who list items in the Marketplace are not educated about the Exchange. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS. If you have an item that is particularly hard to sell, try offering it for an item that isn't so hard to sell. Take an SD Plus doll for an example.

<example>
SD Plus Doll is listed as 3,000,000 gold(inflated) in the marketplace.
Look around/use the marketplace tools to find other items within the range of at least 30 percent of the price of the SD Plus doll.
In this instance, Penguin Slippers are found, which are 2,600,000 gold.
PM the user, and ask for a direct trade. DO NOT BE PICKY. Take the direct trade, asking them to add more to the item you're offering on is just telling them that you're someone to watch out for. If they take it, and many would since they "think" it's profit for them, hallelujah! You just made a lot of profit.
