Exposition: The short story "The Sniper" written by Liam O'Flaherty was based off of The Civil War taken place in Dublin, Ireland in 1922. The Sniper, being the main character was sitting on a rooftop at nightfall in June facing off with an opposing sniper, being the second main character.

Complication: When the Sniper pulls out a cigarette he decides to take the chance of lighting and puffing the cig. He drops the cigarette when the enemy Sniper shoots at him. Then an elderly woman betrays the Sniper by telling an enemy in an armored vehicle where he was located at. Therefore shooting them both when it was the perfect chance. Next is when he gets shot in the arm by the enemy Sniper, so he uses his revolver as a weapon since he can't use his sniper.

Rising Action: Shoots the enemy sniper when he had the chance with his revolver.

Climax: After shooting and killing the enemy sniper he gets curious as to the opposing sniper's identity.

Falling Action: Once the Sniper turns the opposing sniper around he discovers the sniper's identity.

Resolution: The enemy sniper was his brother.
