Ruidoso
Ruidoso
It means Noisy River
Small beautiful town located next to the mountain Sierra Blanca
5,000, population on a good day
‘Little Texas’ Its what we locals call it
Full of so many hills and trees
It’s what I truly see as beautiful
Especially when covered in blankets of snow

Slide open your doors
Wrap your arms around yourself as the breeze blows by
See the pure white untouched blankets of snow covering everything
Drive down Mid-Town and see the stores covered in Christmas lights and snow
Smiling as you dance in the middle of the road Snow Cap with music playing through your ears as the snow falls
That’s the beauty you see

Ah the fall time
Feeling the chilly winds of September, October, and November
School has started and all you can do is think about the summer you wish hadn’t ended
Smiling as you smell the Macintosh’s fireplace lighting up for the first time that chilly evening
Laughing as you walk out onto your balcony you hear the laughter and music from the Lodge of Sierra Blanca
It’s Oktoberfest, you know October Fest A.K.A beer fest for all the local drunks
Welcome to the memories of fall time in Ruidoso
You embrace those chilly winds this time around

Slide open your doors
Arms hanging by your side as the breezes blow by
Watching the environment preparing its self for the chilly winter ahead
Driving down Mid-Town all is empty but the bars, as people pathetically try to warm themselves with a shot of tequila and a few Irish Car Bombs to follow
Looking down Snow Cap wishing you had some tequila of your
That’s the sadness you see

School bells ring for the last time of that school year, its summer time
And guess what, your still stuck in the middle of the tiny town located in the Lincoln National Forest
The fire dangers shoot up from moderate to extreme, where’s Smokey the Bear when you need him
All the Texans come into town to live it up; you can to if you want
But unlike them, you can’t leave, you’re stuck in Ruidoso and they are the only ones with the escape routes
You look down your road to find some so sort of escape route to save you
But all roads lead you back to the same little spot in Mid-Town
But nothing can save you or take you away from here; it’s the only place you can survive in

Slide open your doors
Wishing you could feel that cool breeze on that hot summer afternoon
Hearing the drunk laughs and giggles as people begin to lose themselves in the forest
Driving down Mid-Town you see everyone looking for some kind of escape route
Sitting in the middle of Snow Cap you wonder what you’re going to do
This is the isolation you see

School bells ring for the last time that school day, its spring break baby
Life seems to be finally coming out of it’s frozen state
Late night drives to Kids Connection to swing and gaze up at the stars
Kids your age at The Cabin boozing it up or taking a long hit off the joint being passed around
You and your friends planning for a small road trip out to Midget Mike’s
Deciding who is going to bring what alcohol and what drug
It’s a little party in the back of your pickup truck the same one you’ve screwed a few people in
Baby it’s spring break, meaning it’s time to watch every destroy the last of their brain cells and to lose themselves

Slid open your doors
Wishing you could feel that warm breeze on that cold spring morning
Watch as the forest burst into flames as some tweeker tosses a joint out his window
Driving down Mid-Town you see the drunks trying to avoid getting hit by cars
Standing in the middle of Snow Cap you wonder why the hell are you still here
This is the hopelessness you see

This is Ruidoso
