So Halloween is coming up and I LOVE Zombie flicks I can not get enough of it. So my recent Kick is a zombie one XD. Any who if you are as curious as I am I posted the top 10 from different sites to give you some ideas as to what to buy or rent. This has helped me out because it has opened my mind up to more movies that I didn't know about. I shall Highlight the ones I've see already.

10. White Zombie.--The one that started it all. This classic horror is eerie, inventive, and suspenseful, without one gut being munched. It set the mythos for zombie films for years to come.

9. Bio Zombie.--This movie has action, horror, and suspense, but I think what really made it for me was the heroes. The fact that Woody and Bee are so funny together and that their dialog is so great (at least, their translated dialog) is what raises this film above others of its kind.

8. Braindead.--Peter Jackson has a flair for gore, and he makes full use of it in this movie, but the gore is just a backdrop to the engaging storyline of a mild-mannered man who has to wade through a host of zombies to find love. Add in several truly original and bizarre ideas, and you have this classic.

7. Shaun of the Dead.--This is the same kind of film as Braindead (combining horror and intelligent humor), but the storyline was even more interesting, and it's in a more classic zombie film style.

6. Zombieland.--This movie was creative, vibrant, and funny, and made me leave the theater smiling. Despite being set in a post–zombie apocalypse world, it's almost cheerful, and excellently done.

5. 28 Days Later.--This movie kept me on the edge of my seat when I thought that I had become desensitized to zombie movies. After watching it for the second time at a friend's house, as I was leaving I managed to partially convince myself that there was an enraged zombie waiting quietly for me in the dark of the stairwell. A scary, engrossing movie.

4. Army of Darkness.--Raimi improves on the straight slapstick of Evil Dead II by adding an epic adventure, Ash-style, and more ways for Ash to harm himself. Campbell also perfects his smarmy portrayal of the hero.

3. Dawn of the Dead (197 cool .--I think it's because Romero manages so well to convey the sense of acopalypse that his movies have such an impact. There is a desperation underlying everything that does not let up, and so an already well-written action/horror becomes even more gripping. This movie, as opposed to Night of the Living Dead, spawned many "sequels" in Italy, and the idea of being trapped in a large building (mall, warehouse, etc.) seemed to catch on much more than the idea of being trapped in a farmhouse.

2. Dellamorte Dellamore.--I once summarized the plot of this movie to a friend in the following way: "First there's some sex and arty stuff, and then it gets down to the zombies." This was an unjust simplification of a complex and interesting movie, which at the same time, on the surface, is a thoroughly enjoyable zombie flick. I probably still haven't figured out everything that's going on in it.

1. Night of the Living Dead (196 cool .--Although some of the ideas from Dawn of the Dead may have caught on more readily, Night of the Living Dead was first, and its impact on the world of zombie films is unquestionable. Eerie, tense, and imaginative, it is still a great film to this day.

Top 10 Zombie Movies of 21st century

With many filmmakers going back to old original classics and remaking them in the best special effects and with big budget. I am expecting that in the 21st century we will see some of the best zombie movies. So, here some of the top 10 zombie movies of the decade.

Dead Meat (2004)
This Irish horror classic has a different plot. Mad cow disease spreads to humans and turns them into carnivorous zombies. It’s a straight head, old school zombie film with people eating cows and attending zombie children party.

Resident Evil (2002)
According to me it’s the only example of a good movie based on a video game. It combines orthodox zombie thrills with slick video gaming action. A great horror movie but like every zombie film it has its silly moments, still it gets a spot in my top 10 zombie movies list.

Plaga Movie: Mutant Zone (2001)
A good effort by the Argentinean film industry. This outrageous zombie film is inspired from Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead with a comic element added to it.

Zombie Strippers (200 cool
This zombie comedy is different and fun. Notable performance by Robert Englund as a neurotic strip club owner who makes a deal with the government bred zombies and let’s them hang around his joint. The scenes ensure some laughs plus it has some gentleman entertainment which makes it fun for group viewing.

Deadgirl (2009)
One of the best scary movies, Deadgirl features only one zombie, a young woman who is imprisoned in an asylum. She’s a victim and is a task for two teenage boys who don’t know what to do with her. One of the top horror movies, Deadgirl is challenging, uncomfortable and repulsive.

Dance of the Dead (200 cool
John Hughes meets George Romero and creates an entertaining zombie movie for the masses. It’s a low budget horror comedy about a group of high school teens who vow to save their prom from a group of zombies. It’s fun, fast and definitely screaming for a sequel.

Land of the Dead (2005)
One of George Romero’s best zombie films, land of dead is underrated because its good and has a captivating direction and artistic thrills.

Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Every time I hear about a horror movie being re-made, I think of this movie. It was a great remake and was relevant. I call it pure entertainment. Bigger and badder than the original Dawn (197 cool , Dawn (2004) is one of the best scary movies of all time.

Zombieland (2009)
Smart direction, funny and scary lines, eye popping visuals and a laughter riot. Zombieland is heavy on the comic side but still delivers a good rating because of blood spitting zombies and scary sounds.

Shaun of the Dead (2004)
The last film on my list of top 10 zombie movies is Shaun of the Dead. A different style of horror, Shaun of the Dead brilliantly mixes comedy with zombies, humor with gory and even adds a romance track.

Top 10 Zombie Movies of All Time

Picking out some of the best zombie movies of all time, keeps me thinking. I should include every masterpiece in which dead people have raised hell. So here it is some of the best horror movies of all time in which zombies rule.

I Am Legend

1. The Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn – 10/10 Although I think Shaun of the Dead is a superior film, and the best out of this bunch, as a zombie film, this is definitely the best. The film, like The Evil Dead, has amazing camerawork, but instead of scares, this has goofy laughs and genuinely some of the coolest moments in cinema history. The action is awesome, the music rocks and it’s so violent. Pure genius.
2. Shaun of the Dead – 10/10 The best film on this list, but far too much to it to be the best zombie film. I have gushed over it enough times, so I’ll only say this, the writing, directing, editing and acting are some of the best ever, and the violence is good too.
3. Dawn of the Dead – 10/10 This is the original, obviously. The message this film cleverly gets across is incredibly simple but executed to perfection. The violence is alright, but not outstanding, but this zombie film is the best ‘braaaaiiiinnnsss’ zombie film, by definition, the best zombie film about slow, dumb zombies.
4. Planet Terror – 10/10 This is my personal taste coming into the equation. I know a lot of people don’t like this, but I bloody (had to) love this film. The gore is outstanding, the plot is contrived in ways I won’t even go into, the characters are all genius and to be honest, it serves its purpose perfectly.
5. Night of the Living Dead – 8/10 Hordes of zombies, and the gore and the less than subtle Vietnam metaphor with the black and white photography makes this a genuinely brilliant film that shall remain untouched as the original zombie movie, however as a film it may not hold up today.
6. The Evil Dead – 9/10I think that The Evil Dead uniquely uses the idea of zombies as being strong evil beings rather than a mass of dumb pieces of meat. This, and the claustrophobic setting, makes the film incredibly scary for its budget. O course, the acting and production values are awful, but with Sam Raimi’s signature camerawork and a young Bruce Campbell in the lead, this is one to watch.
7. Braindead (a.k.a. Dead Alive) - 8/10 The acting is atrocious, the plot is painful, the characters are incredibly archetypal and the cause of the zombies is truly hilarious. What’s awesome is the gore, this truly is the most gory film I have ever seen, from countless limbs flying over the place, eating earrings, puss everywhere, hands under skin, urgh. It truly is horrific, and for that reason, truly awesome.
8. Dawn of the Dead – 8/10 A bit of a guilty pleasure. The subtext is thrown out of the window, the hope of character development (or original characters at all), however, it is fast, highly entertaining, violent, stylish, cool, and it brought the genre back into the mainstream. Also, the opening is some of the best zombie film ever.
9. Pontypool – 9/10 This is a very different slant on zombies, which is what’s so clever about the film. It is set in a radio station and is set entirely at it, with a small number of scenes happening just outside. The setup is simple, the virus is spread through language, a truly original take on the idea of zombies. Another notable thing to come from this film is the dark streak of comedy that runs throughout. This is definitely one to watch.
10. 28 Days Later – 8/10 The first of an independent, digital generation. I personally find the first half to be some of the best zombie sequences in cinema, and the last half to be a lot poorer, dwelling on horny soldiers rather than ravenous zombies. It is also notable that this was the first zombie movie with running zombies (to my knowledge).


1. Zombieland (2009)


Of all the films Woody Harrelson has starred in, this is, in my view, his best. Harrelson plays Tallahassee, a veteran zombie-slayer with a wicked sense of humor. The entire movie is hilarious, though it's still so gory I had to look away a few times. This one is my very favorite zombie movie!
2. Resident Evil (2002)


It started off as one of the scariest video games ever, right up there with Silent Hill, and has turned into an entire franchise of movies. Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez are great in the first movie, and I like the idea of a multi-national corporate conglomerate being behind all of the misery.
3. Shaun of the Dead (2004)


This movie is so funny, it's hard to remember that it's supposed to also be a zombie horror film. IT's not just slap-stick comedy, it's terribly witty and clever. Really, is there anything better for bashing zombies than a cricket bat, or any safer place to hole up than a pub?

10 . 28 Days Later (2002)28 Days Later
Although suffering from a weak second-half, the first section of Danny Boyle’s apocalyptical Brit-zombie DV film is superbly edgy and brutal, most notably the early morning shots of a deserted London, and the quick and deadly ‘contaminated’. The film plays on our fears of isolation, viruses (infected by Rage) and social paranoia, with heavy debt to Romero.

9 . Versus (2000)Versus
From Japan comes this insane Japanese martial arts / Highlander / zombie film. Set in one location (The Forest of Resurrection) the film is a subtle blend of myth (themes such as reincarnation and destiny) and non-stop action. Sure, it’s as silly as hell, but the terrific camerawork and fast editing more than compensate for the script’s shortcomings.

8 . Wild Zero (2000)Wild Zero
Rock’n’Roll! Also from Japan, this cult film follows the rock band Guitar Wolf as they rock hard, and defend the world from alien-invading zombies. “There are no boundaries in love! There are no boundaries in Rock’n’Roll!” Forget Rocky Horror, this is the greatest ‘punk-rock-action-horror-comedy-zombie-midnight-movie’ ever made.

7 . Dellamorte Dellamore (The Cemetery Man) (1994)Dellamorte Dellamore (The Cemetery Man)
This criminally under seen movie is from Michele Soavi, understudy of fellow Italian horror master Dario Argento. Rupert Everett (in laid-back James Bond mode) is the caretaker of a cemetery where the dead don’t stay dead. Surreal, comical, romantic, tragic and magic all at once and made with a real passion and affection for the genre. Oh, and Anna Falchi is a babe.

6 . Braindead (1992)Braindead
Braindead is when ‘Lord of the Hobbits’ director Peter Jackson really hit his stride. This period set (late 50s) zombie splatstick film gives us Lionel (Timothy Balme) as a weak nerdy anti-hero, slaying a horde of undead to save his true love Paquita (Diana Panalver). Tons of gore featuring rat-monkeys, karate-kicking priests and a brilliant Lawnmower Massacre ending.

5 . Re-Animator (1985)Re-Animator
Two great straight turns from Jeffrey Combs as Herbert West (who creates a serum capable of bringing the dead back to life - sort of), and the late David Gale as the maniacal Dr Carl Hill lift this film with the help of director Stuart Gordon to cult classic comedy gorefest. Try and get hold of the uncut version, (Region 1) the scene with the severed head is hilarious stuff indeed.

4 . Return of the Living Dead (1984)Return of the Living Dead
Dan O'Bannon, writer of Alien, breaks the rules of the traditional slow, shuffling zombie, instead giving the undead a boost of speed and a punk soundtrack in this 1986 gory horror comedy spoof of the classic dead trilogy, featuring supercool victims/heroes Bert’n’Ernie. Deliciously vicious, but more importantly gut-munchingly funny. “MORE BRAINS!”

3 . Zombie Flesh Eaters (Zombi 2) (1979)Zombie Flesh Eaters (Zombi 2)
A Italian spaghetti-zombie classic from Lucio Fulci. On a voodoo island the living dead massacre everyone before turning their attention on New York. Particularly remembered for its ultra-gore (including a skewered eyeball and a graphic throat slit) it’s also notable for it’s bizarre underwater fight scene with a topless female diver, a zombie and a shark.

2 . The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue (1974)The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue
Borrowing heavily from NOTLD, this ‘filmed in lake District’ zombie flick from the mid 70s is both nightmarishly bleak and sinister. Arthur Kennedy is the American-English policeman investigating experimental pesticides which seem to be having unexpected effects at the local cemetery. Genuinely creepy with an unrelenting tension.
