Barbelo was born a small town in Romania to a small family, he was an only child. That fact changed when he turned 5, his mother gave birth to a baby girl, Barbelo's little sister. They named her Akasha, but she wasn't normal. Her hair and eye color was completely different from any others in their family. It wasn't until Barb found his mother dead by her own hands did he know, she was raped by her brother-in-law and Akasha was conceived. After this news, his father also took his own life leaving Akasha and Barbelo to fend for themselves, Barb was 10 at the time. The small town shunned Barbelo and his sister, calling his sister cursed and him stupid for staying with her.
Shortly after Barbelo turned 14, he took his sister and the few things they owned and moved to a new town, hoping to escape the close-minded people in his hometown. They found a town even smaller and were pretty happy. They lived in a small hut on the outskirts of the town, Barb took a job as an assistant blacksmith and Akasha took up weaving.
Then, one day, a rich and handsome business owner came to their tiny village. The man fell head over heels for Akasha, but only for her beauty. Barbelo, knowing this, denied him rights to marry his sister, yet the man insisted. In order to try and gain Akasha, the man tried to become friends for Barbelo, all the while plotting against him. He'd take Barb hunting, and bought him and Akasha all new clothes, even provided everything they needed, yet Barbelo still denied him. He told him if he couldn't love his sister for more than her beauty, then he had no right to love her at all. The man got angry and stormed out, swearing he'd get even.
A year passed since the man had wormed in and out of their lives, till one day he showed up again. Barbelo, having no faith that this man had changed, challenged the man. He told him if he could prove his love to Akasha, not just for her beauty, then he'd agree. The man had expected him to say this and had developed a plot. He tried to fool Barbelo, but it didn't work. Though Barbelo lead him to believe that, he agreed knowing his sister wouldn't. When it came time for the stranger to ask Akasha, she refused knowing he only wanted her for her beauty, and not wanting to leave her brother. The man, outraged and feeling foolish left, or so they thought. The man came back later that evening. A torch in hand, and three of his servants. They set fire to Barbelo and Akasha's hut, leaving to rush to tell someone so they could look clean.
Once in town, they warned the towns people of the fire. They arrived to find the hut hollowed out and Barbelo laying on the ground, his eye poked out and his dead sister in his arms. The man, smirking on the inside, began to mourn and act sad. Barbelo snapped, setting his sister down he grabbed a near by pitchfork and lodged it at the man, spearing him in the chest. With a loud scream, he then launched himself at the man and went berserk. The towns people, very afraid and confused, moved to pull Barbelo from the slowly dying man, only to be lashed out at to.Till Barbelo's blacksmith master arrived.
When the big, burly man showed up everyone was silent. He easily picked the young Barbelo off of the man, holding him tightly in his arms. Barbelo, calming down some, broke into tears, he had truly lost it all.The man who'd started this mess now laid officially dead, making Barbelo look like a murderer. The man's henchmen then quickly wove a tail how Barbelo had gone berserk and the man had tried to save Akasha, saying that Barbelo knocked the kettle and firewood about, causing the fire to happen, making the true criminal look innocent.
The towns people, being not of the smart kind, believed these men and Barbelo was sentenced to torture till he admitted truth. Barbelo was then chained in the near-by lord's castle, there he was whipped, cut, branded, burned, spat at, and tortured till one day the blacksmith came to see him. He told Barbelo he'd break him out and get him into the army, claiming it as a way to get Barb back on track. Barbelo, agreed gratefully.
Once in the army, Barbelo climbed through the ranks quickly. Though he developed so bad habits. He frequently drank and slept around, his heart feeling dead and empty. By the time he'd gotten to the top of the ranks he realized, he had no friends, no family, only pets. He spent most evenings training or just lay around, hoping to meet some people he could open up too, yet he didn't know how to truly trust. He only knew how to do his job, which was worming his way into the enemies minds, and how to be an a**, but he could be kind. He took tender, loving care of the animals he took in, treating them like his own family. All the while hoping for a person, or people, to prove him wrong about all people being rotten.
