My Journal
Poetry, character sheets, reviews, and other random stuff.
Now we've reached the Q&A part of the program. Oh, fun.
Q: "Do you believe in God?"

A: Nope, I don't. I'll say it shamelessly to anyone who asks.
Your God is not my God, no matter what your God is.
I can be a spiritual person and some details of religion are interesting. But aside from my bit of fascination with traditional things, the Bible, and indeed all books like it, are just that: books. You can take valuable things away from books, but I wouldn't govern my life around one. And I've never needed any external influence to make me feel secure, so religion is pretty useless in that aspect. I have no need to comfort myself with the idea that there's some divine figure waiting in the wings for me whenever something bad happens. There's nothing a church can do to make my life better that a stereo and a cup of coffee can't.
On a related note, I don't have "Where was God when this and that happened" syndrome.
Do I call myself an 'Atheist'? I wouldn't care to, seeing as how it shoves me into just another big group of people with the same sets of beliefs that probably don't agree with mine. I don't ejaculate over science, for instance, and just because I don't believe that one ethereal being of divine strength and unmatched wisdom created everything seen and unseen, it doesn't mean that I can't take interest in things beyond what I, as a human being, can perceive with only my eyes.
So why not just call all the tasty stuff that composes existence 'God' instead of a 'good quality of life'? 'Cause I don't need to. You can believe in it all you like, you can even pity me if you feel you must, but it doesn't make your religion any more useful to me.
There is no God that is written about now that I'd ever worship.
And no amount of proselytizing would change that.
