Each and every day and night
He'd sit at the side of bed
Stroking her smooth hair,
Though nothing was said.
No movement was there,
For she never stirred.
And her shallow breathing,
Could barely be heard.
But yet he never left,
The love of his life,
That he had proposed to
His soon to be wife.
He thought back to the day,
Where it all went wrong.
In just a split second,
Everything was all gone.
The dinner had been good,
And everything was great,
The ring was to be given,
Before it was too late.
As he brought it out,
Tears formed in her eyes.
And he couldnt believe
That she had actually cried.
Her answer was perfect,
Im sure you can guess.
A hug a kiss and an answer,
A single heartfelt yes!
Yet it all ended so sadly,
On that beautiful night,
What fate had planed;
It just wasnt right.
A happy young couple,
Victims of a terrible crime
The drunk driver took them.
Long before their time.
Though he got better,
His wounds had healed,
She was in a coma,
Her fate was sealed.
The doctors told him,
To just give it up.
That she was gone.
Shed never wake up.
But he still sat with her,
Trying not to cry,
All he wanted was one last kiss,
A chance to say goodbye.
But as he looked at her,
She gave a little shutter,
Her hands tensed up.
And her eyes started to flutter.
She gazed at him
He didnt know what to do,
As she spoke three little words
"I love you."
He bent very close,
Whispered in her ear.
Saying the very last words,
She would ever hear.
"I can finally say goodbye,
And I just want you to know,
I love you so much baby,
But now you can let go."
He sliped a ring onto her finger
And said a little prayer
"Goodbye my angel go to heaven
You will be better off up there"
He kissed her one last time,
As he stared to cry.
For she was finally gone.
But at least he said goodbye.
