From the valley of a broken heart
and the corner of For and Ever.
A desperate soul searches for food.
A never-ending hunger.
Body writhing in disagreement
to stay at rest or go.
To sleep for another day
or shove off the pain of being alone.
The pain that eats inside you,
until a hole consumes your smile.
The happiness that once was in your eyes
fades to darkness after a while.
Need of wanting someone there.
Want of not having the need.
Both wreck havoc on the soul,
Both make it impossible to feed.
Satisfing the shattered shadow
of a man who once was.
Feeding the frail figure
of someone filled with flaws.
And in this everlasting showdown
between the want and the need.
The two ever battling,
always trying to impede.
And so nothing gets accomplished
the soul starves and dies.
The want and need have vanished,
but at what price?
