Just posting this here because this isn't my computer and I don't want to save it here.

My concept started in my passion for corsetry. I wanted to tread the well-worn subject by exploring the aesthetic from a non-sexual angle. I personally have never seen them as a sex-object, but I can see how and why they would be seen in such a way. In my eyes they are just an under-utilised piece of historical fashion, like the gaiter or the top hat.
To formulate a truly new way of looking into the corset I had to find a new way of using them. There are echoes of corsetry throughout modern fashion, so I wanted to avoid the corset itself as an item of clothing. The corset would be a tool for me; not an end product, but a way to explore the possibilities of what it could do.
The corset can reshape a body. It straightens the spine and compresses (not necessarily reduces) the waist. It can mark the skin. It can leave trails on the skin where a simple line of stitching went, or it can leave harsh criss-crosses where the lacing pressed. It can also bruise.
