The second largest nation in current existence. Often blamed for the faults of other's, often overlooked, and often utmost completely ignored by most around her. Unlike Matthew, whom keeps most of the torment he receives from other nation's on the inside, she takes the plethora of emotions and energies, the different sides that most countries have, and comes to embrace them. Unfortunately, she finds difficulty in controlling them, and as such often goes through periods of severe mood whiplash, often triggered when she's around certain people. Despite this she abhors showing this weakness in harnessing other mental forms in front of anyone else, especially if the person in question is going through distress of their own.
Two desperate wants are constantly circling her being: the want to help out her friends and family in any way possible, and the want to be noticed. By chance if someone does happen to take notice of her, one that has never really conversed with her before, she tends to become clingy and liable to do anything to keep that connection from being severed.
Of course, it takes her a while to get to this state. If first truly meeting someone, she immediately throw on her shy demeanor and will easily become uncomfortable, almost to an anthropophobic state, if the newly acquired companion touches her.
Although - like her brother - she has a great dislike for fighting and arguing, she's known among a few rare people to snap when continually provoked - afterwards, naturally, she often feels guilty about speaking crossly.
As of now she's a single mother of three children.
She doesn't talk all that much, but when pressured or incredibly angry, her mouth will open and she won't be able to stop verbally tongue-lashing whomever was causing the negative emotions.
She also has a polar bear named Kumarie:
Unlike Matt's Kumajirou, she is much more willing to attack someone - seemingly her favourite victim is anyone who's male.
HEAD CANONS:
Uncertainty: She rarely knows how to feel around other nations. Everything that has hit her over the years, from the horrible up bringing to the abandonment issues that followed, caused the normal flow of emotions to bring themselves to a very abrupt halt. For many nations, she has no idea what to think of them, going between loving them and going through the most horrid of mixed emotions. England is the big contender for this. History: The only countries who she's ever certain over are those who were deep within her history, including Ukraine and Netherlands. She adores those two with her whole heart and considers them to be some of the closest friends she's ever had. True Family: Everyone believes that the only family Canada has includes America, England, and France. Yet the Canadian believes that everyone who was ever under England's rule is a part of her family as well; those who are very note-worthy would be Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia, India, and those of the Southern African continent. The English Gene: No, unlike the others Madeline didn't acquire bushy eyebrows (thank God) but she did indeed bring in the love for all things magical and the ability to see some creatures. Unlike other countries, she can still see all of the creatures of her land and has a great fondness for them. Addictive: Madeline has an addictive personality. Thanks to something certain being good and well in her country she has felt the sensation of being high before (also thanks to British Columbia). Her only other addiction is the feel of pleasure; one thing that her 'Papa' successively passed down was the tendency to become a little bit of a nympo when she manages to adopt the feeling of sexual pleasure.
MOAR (but less important) HEAD CANONS:
-When Canada was beginning to be known as the country who would take anyone and everyone in, she opposed to Matthew was the one who was a complete p***k to China, ordering that ten dollar fee for admittance and then allowing Kumarie to force him into helping what would be known as the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Now she obviously feels guilty about it.
-She's just a touch deaf in the right ear thanks to the Halifax Explosion.
-Prior to the twentieth century Madeline always had a lingering fear of thunderstorms. Thanks to the events of Black Friday she is now struck terrified of them.
-The Canadian still keeps in touch with her native side and adores being around the monstrous Wendigo.
-Since he started his walk across her country she had a crush on Terry Fox and went into a deep depression when the news came along that he unfortunately passed. Every September she first goes to his grave and then participates in one of the various Terry Fox Runs across the country.
-No matter her dislike for still having England's monarchy having a rule over her for years after her supposed freedom, she has a secret little soft spot for the royalty of his land. Will and Kate managed to bring that back full force.
-She (fruitlessly) attempts to cover up her errant curl with the beret she wears. More often than not the little piece of hair just pops right out.
-Even though considering whom her 'parents' were, she can not hold her alcohol. It either serves for a passion(less) night or one of America's coffee tables being broken. Again.
-Unlike her brother to the South she had a talent for being able to read the atmosphere, and that read easily how people are, what they do, their characteristics; yet, when someone does the same thing to her, she finds herself starting to fall to one of her own weaknesses and will go mute.
-Contrary to belief she is only lazy at the times of 6 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon. Well, if she's woken anytime before 1 in the afternoon she'll be lagging around. If she's woken up before six...that simply won't be happening.
-She just might be a closet monster. 'Monster' or 'Pokerface' might be her favourite songs.
-Also contrary to popular belief she actually has a tightly knitted group of friends, most of them nations with whom she gained relationships with over the years thanks to national ties, including Ukraine, Netherlands, Egypt, and a few others.
-She laughs harder than she should whenever hearing 'The War of 1812' by The Arrogant Worms.
-The worst of British music are guilty pleasures, especially those infamous one-hit-wonders.
-More often than not she allows herself to simply wander around...something that usually keeps her bumping into other nations.
-Every single time Avril Lavigne got big again she would go into a fangirl insanity.
