Chapter One

Present day, post Royal wedding

"M'lord the city is ours. No casualties to report and the citizens have been forced out as per your instructions." Said a rather petite female dragon in her human guise. The only difference between them and everyone else were that their ears were not rounded. Their ears were pointed and looked a bit like fish fins and matched the coloring of their scales and hair. Considering it wasn't their natural form it was still much easier for them to get around if they just had their hair covering their ears. Taking the city was child's play without any actual form of military in Equestria. Aside from Celestia's royal guards though they never left Canterlot unless Celestia herself left the city for something.

It had only been a week since he had begun his invasion of Equestria and it would take even less time for Celestia to become aware of it. Considering how laid back she was in current days probably do to this so called peace in her land. Peace he had helped in creating. So much carnage and damage to the land had been done. Back then the country had been split into four since the king and queen had mysteriously perished. The most powerful nobles had taken the opportunity and split the country into four with each noble taking one quarter and only leaving a small bit to the two daughters who were much too young to be ruling alone.

When they reached adulthood they formed an army, well Celestia did Luna was still too young to take an active roll. One lord after another fell over the years and by the time most of Equestria was hers Luna was a young woman and Morning Star who had been a whipping boy for Lord Burning Feather before Celestia's liberation, was now her general and Luna's personal guard. The remaining years had been tough but with the amount of time he and Luna had begun to share it was bearable. At least until Celestia took notice of-

"My lord? Are you alright?" Came that familiar voice. Shaking his head Morning Star snapped back to the present and gave a nod of dismissal. Rubbing his forehead he rose from the wood throne he was sitting on inside his tent just outside of Manehattan. His wings were hidden beneath his skin like a pocket that kept them out of the way when not in use. He was dressed in light armor covering his shins, forearms, and the top part of his chest where his heart and lungs were. Since he was not going into battle anytime soon there was no need for him to fully arm himself. Though if he had to be honest he preferred light armor to the kind of armor that just looked ridiculous.

One of Equestria's largest cities was his and it wasn't even noon on the third day of the siege. With no standing army Equestria would be a cake walk until they reached Canterlot. There any real defense would be met with Celestia herself. Luna though well she was another story. She was not aware he was alive yet. Either that or she simply forgot about him. No doubt Celestia's doing he was sure. "One way or another we will be reunited. Whether it be on the battlefield or through peace talks I will see you again fair Luna." He murmured before returning to his tent.

The rest of the day seemed to fly by without much happening. His soldiers were hungry so he let them eat whatever food they could find in the city. No sign of any counter attack from Celestia that he could see. Then again it hadn't been long since the siege began so hopefully soon she would be on her way to try and deal with his problem herself. Fat chance that though considering the numbers she was up against. Still he couldn't underestimate her. Especially if she decided to return to being that all controlling war princess she was a thousand years ago.

He could barely stand her then and probably much less now considering how he felt about her. Luna though was another story. How much had she changed? Had she gotten taller? Grown her hair out? The image he had of her from all those years ago had not faded even once. Hair of pale blue in the day and like the night sky well at night. Every time he closed his eyes he could see her and hear her voice that washed over him like a cascading waterfall of comfort and what he assumed to be love.

Some nights since Discord had told him of her return he couldn't help but go out and watch the sky to see if he could catch a glimpse of her. Yet not a single night could he see her. Was Celestia still moving the sun and moon herself? Probably though he doubted Luna would have stood for that for long. Sighing as he watched the sun sink beneath the horizon he could not help but be thankful that night was coming.

Morning came and went and by the afternoon something he had expected finally arrived. A messenger from Canterlot had come with a letter from Celestia herself. Assumed he ordered the guards to allow the messenger to pass and deliver her message.

"My name is Spitfire of the Wonderbolts and I have a message for the leader of the invading forces."
