General Aurelian gazed at the mist covered land ahead of them. He remembers the fearsome description the Daihuang governor gave about the Hinode warriors as they stopped over a Daihuang port to get supplies.
"You are not battling soldiers in Hinode, General. You're battling demons freed from the gates of Hell.''
"Heh, that's what they said to us before when we battled the Northmen several hundred years ago.''
"They do not think or act like mindless beasts if that's what you are thinking. I am telling you now, it is better to rethink on your mission or suffer a catastrophe in the end'' The governor worriedly warned, his snow white brows knitted tightly.
Cicero prepared himself for battle. The centurion is now fully garbed in his armor. He is waiting at the door of the general's room as he was summoned a few minutes ago.
''Greetings Sir.''
"Greetings Officer Cicero.'' The general appeared heavyhearted as he spoke to his subordinate. " I am sorry to tell you this but you will not lead a legion now on this mission.You will do scout work. This is what me and your fellow officers have decided upon.''
Cicero gripped his spear tightly as if he wanted to break it into half. This is an insult on a centurion's point of view. On rare cases is a centurion conducting a mission alone like what happened to him in Hoarfrost Pass. But this is a major military operation...
''Sir, with due respect I was expecting my punishment to come after the operation...''
"Are you questioning my decision young man?!" Aurelian stood up and smashed one hand on the table, sending some papers falling on the floor. "For what you just said I will add it as a charge against you when we return back. I am not expecting anyone from your family to question authority! Leave my room now!"
Cicero grudgingly left the general's room. The commotion roused the interest of his fellow soldiers.
''Apparently when you get too close to the Northmen, you start to act like one.''
"Such a shame, he came from such an honored family...''
