So, let's just say I was upset, unsettled and not sure of many things and had withdrawn to a certain extent. I was on AIM on May 3rd last year when a friend of mine suggested I check Gaia out. My daughter had been here for a while, and though I wasn't all that interested in the avatars, I was interested in reading the forums for a change of pace. Since I am older, a fresh outlook and some interesting and funny postings just might take my mind off things going on here at home. I signed in and low and behold there is a fishing game to be played. One must understand that I love to fish in real life and most fishing games that have come out I've at least dabbled in a bit, and most I want to figure out. Gaia fishing was no exception to that rule. My friend handed me some clothes, the red hoochie outfit along with the cat tail, ears, feet and hands. Along with a performance rod that they said they wouldn't ever use as they couldn't get the hang of fishing. And I was off...
I was enchanted and challenged from the beginning, as I couldn't even enter Bass'ken, I started at Gambino. I flailed the first few casts thinking I needed to use my arrow keys to keep the fish within the lines. rofl I was thoroughly amused when I finally figured out it was my mouse I was supposed to use. lol
But then it wasn't 'easy', I would over compensate at the beginning and zoom out went the fish or trash. So I started experimenting with the casts, and moving my mouse, I lost a lot of fish and trash at the beginning, but again I only saw it as more of a challenge, I'm not going to let a silly game beat me, and of all things a fishing game! But I also noticed, as I was fishing and learning the game, the less stressed I was becoming over what was occuring in real life around me. This is a good thing too. So I fished more, using F bait, as that was all I could afford at the time. Even that became a challenge, as I had noticed that you could accumulate gold on Gaia and buy things for the avatar. I figured, if nothing else, I could accumulate some gold and give it to my daughter for her avatar as I wasn't planning on doing much more than fishing and reading here on Gaia.
And though it is long, that is my first journal entry, there will be more to follow. I have no idea who will read this, but I hope you find it amusing, maybe enlightening and enjoyable above all. *hugs* to those I've met on Gaia, it's more because of you I have stayed here and will continue to be here. I hope you all know who you are.
