Welp! A new one!!
I almost got scammed this morning when a woman called me and - though I could not understand her very well because her English is so 'broken', wanted me to let her tell me my future.
So be aware of this new thing! Or is it an old thing?
And anyone that tells you they are from the water department or the utilities and needs to check your pipes or your meter (or that they need to replace your meter even if you know your utilities are changing them. Always tell the guy to "come back later" after you get their ID) and call your utility company to verify., do NOT let them come into your house!! Don't leave your house either to show them the meter.
And be aware of men paving your driveway without permission or a contract. That is also a scam and will more likely charge you more money than it would actually cost for work done that is shoddy.
And NEVER fall for phone calls that say that you won a prize or are to be sent a free gift, but that you need to send money ahead of time in order to receive it.
These are real life things. So as you need to be careful while on the internet and be wary of scams to get your password (and remember the Staff of every site already has your info and do not need to ask for it), be also wary of scammers in real life coming to your door or through your phone. And NEVER give your personal info to anyone!
Stay safe!
