Facebook is an odd phenomenon. People want their lives to be private, but at the same time they want a safe place to share their lives with other people; however, often times the people they are sharing their lives with over the internet are strangers. Besides, how safe is it really to be posting your life post by post on the internet? Before you start calling me on hypocrisy, remember that this journal is more for my thoughts than my actual activities. If someone wanted to stalk me, they would only know about events after they happened and I don't reveal last names, unlike Facebook's tagging system. The information I post on here could be used to implicate me in illegal activities in the future or to create a psych profile, but I don't really see any other harmful use to it... oh well, other than if someone were to mail all the people I talk about in here with the sections that are about them. But, that would require inside information as to the addresses of all the people and in the end, it's my journal. I stand by what I say in here. I use this place to vent and while I know there could be harm from the wrong people reading it or my words being take the wrong way, I still need this journal as a therapeutic source. Worse case scenario if things all went batshit crazy on me, I guess I would turn the private button on? That would be a shame. I think it's comforting to read about someone if you don't want to really talk to them and for people that don't know me, it might be nice to listen to someone else that has some similar issues get along.
