you prepare for the worse
and i yell, shout and curse
at responsibilities that i duck
since i don't give a ********

i turn my back on all my friends
but keep an eye on my rear-view lens
i turn deaf to all their calls
but i place my ear up against the wall

i like to throw my cares away
just in case there comes a day
whenever you say you want to go
so i'll pretend like i wouldn't have ever known

i refuse to apologize
because i ask myself 'why try?'
