Empty Gifts
Family, friends, and relatives.
They all gather around to commemorate an important event.
Birthday cards, money, and gifts are sent.
But, are there that many that could say that your birthday is important?
Some are forced to attend, when in reality, they can do with or without it.
Often, they suffer to death from boredom.
Confetti and streamers bursting out of them-postmortem.
Look at all the gifts you received.
Plushies, toys, and greed.
Yet, it is not enough.
You think you have all you need.
A plethora of people.
A pile of presents.
Stacks of games.
A table covered with plates of food.
How come it does you no good?
That's right...
They are not here.
Just because I have half of a whole,
it does not make my appetite or heart full.
As many presents I get,
As many game pieces I bet,
nothing will ever fill the blank spaces that these presents try to do.
A box is a box.
A hollow wall will eventually be easy to knock over.
Materialistic things can only do so much.
It will never be able to fulfill the role of my scars clutch.

As a child and growing up with materialistic things, I learned over time that it can never replace love or a person that is dear to you. It is one of those hard things that a huge handful people will not understand unless it was done to them, but even then, it can only be understood to a certain degree.
