if i dared to close my eyes
i might never see your face again
what would i do without my light
do without the one who's still my best friend

if i woke up at this moment
all i wished for would disappear
every waking second would be agonizing torment
because the thought becomes painfully clear

but if i dared to keep them shut
perhaps tonight would be the night
look up to me with unending love
the only thing i'd need in my life

but waking up to a cold reality
is not where the place i'd want to be
your presence became a necessity
without it, i could never truly be complete

i consider those lucky to be
in suspended animation
they no longer have to worry
they're no longer in damnation
