I gently push open the door. The room inside is small and round, but has floor-to-ceiling windows that filter in sunlight from the courtyard. A grande piano stands in the centre, its glossy black finish shimmering in the natural light. A scowling boy is perched on the piano bench. Two girls sit in plastic blue chairs, one fiddling with her envelope nervously while the other leans back nonchalantly. A blonde-haired boy leans against a wall, reading a book. A boy wearing a black leather jacket over his uniform leans over a wobbly music stand, pretending to read whatever is on it. The group is silent, but turn to watch me as I enter.
"Great, cohort member number six has arrived!" exclaims Leather Jacket. He claps his hands together enthusiastically. "Why don't we get started on introductions? Maybe the girl who was late can start," he grins, winking at me.
