... As the title implies, I went to the Renaissance Festival yesterday. It was awesome. I went with a bunch of friends, so we had a great time. I had to get up early (onoez!), but it was definitely worth it! My friend Allision drove me and two other friends, and we followed Becky's parents there (so we didn't get lost). It was funny, cars kept cutting in front of us and Allison was freaking out. xD
SO, anyway... we got there as it opened at 10am. It was like stepping into another era, just so amazing. Everyone stayed in character when they talked to you, which was cool. I got to see the queen (Elizabeth I) and some of her nobles... and I saw lots of peasants, too. The noble dresses were so pretty, I would have rented a costume if it wasn't so expensive.
We saw just about every show we could. Saw Nunnie Nunnie Nunnie, which I found funny, even though I'm not Catholic, or Christian. The two women were a perfect pair for the parts, too. It reminded me a little of Nunsense. Then we went to see Don Juan and Miguel, who Tori's boyfriend (also named Miguel), was eager to see. It was cool, they did some spiffy things with whips, and Don's real life daughter was in the show, as well.
Let's see... we saw a story done by the Washing Wenches, and a story at the mud pit... Ah, saw a funny knife throwing show, and a town dunking (for crimes). Ah! We went to a Wench and Bloak Auction, too. I was gonna by myself a bloak. xD
The last thing we saw was a Joust. That was the coolest thing. It started off as a formal joust, but then just went to a free-for-all between the two teams (light and dark; two knights on each team)... without their horses, of course.
The food there was amazing. The peasent bread (aka, fried dough) was so good... and the birch beer was, too. I got a little taste of everything, since I "sampled" friends' food. xD I'm a mooch like that.
We played some games. Me and the guys threw axes, knives, and ninja stars. Yes, I was the ONLY girl in our group to do the games with the guys. xD Even though I was in a pink skirt, I could still be 'one of the guys'! Haha. I got a henna tattoo, too. It's of the triple moon symbol which basically looks like this: )O(
It's a Pagan symbol and represents the three phases of the Moon. Maiden, Mother, and Crone. Becky got a Cross, and then my friend Jen got the Japanese symbol for Love on her ankle.
I bought myself a little faerie statue, too. I'll get pictures later and put 'em up here, as well as pictures of my tattoo.
We left at 7, the time it closed. So, we spent the whole day there, and more money than we wanted to! xD
