But that's almost exactly the age difference my boyfriend and I have. Our birthdays are two days and two years apart, and that's about how old we were when we started to feel things for eachother.

Let's have a scenario, by the way.

A young woman is out at a club and she meets a handsome, intelligent young male. He tells her he's successful, he runs a business, he has money, and he's single. She's thrilled to have found someone so wonderful, and agrees to go to someplace more quiet for them to talk. She gets in his car, he grabs her, puts a rag over her face, and she never wakes up.

That rarely happens. The point is, it does. In fact, I'm sure it happens more than a mature young lady meeting and being killed by someone over the internet once she's talked to him on the phone and over a webcam.

***** do not dance around the fact they are *****. They usually target girls around 11 or 12 that "talk lyk dis n rooms 4 teens n mayb sex" They do not hang around literate chatrooms, establish long relationships that last more than a few weeks. If they want to have sex with you, they will tell you so. If they put on their webcam, they will usually be naked. They will not have conversations that include "I love you" that do not center around meeting and sex.

We are NOT stupid. We can tell when someone is a *****. We will get a hint when someone asks us if we're into dog sex.

And as far as "people can have two different personas?"

If someone can lie convincingly about their personality in phone conversations that last several hours, they can lie on dates. You would not be hard pressed to find some slime that acts like God's gift to woman and then turns out to be scum as soon as he sleeps with you. Arguing that people's personalities can differ on the phone than in "real life" is pointless because you risk the SAME THING in an offline relationship.

And if internet dating is immature, I'd like to see you get on a dating site and call every single person there immature. I'd like to see you tell my father, my mother, my uncle, me, the love of my life, tell us all we're immature after talking with us for awhile. I certainly sound a heck of a lot more mature than the people who are calling online dating immature, that's for damn sure.

You have all been told by your parents and your schools that chatrooms are filled to bursting with liars and cheats who don't have souls. This is BULLSHIT There's some creeps, yeah, but they are the MINORITY. If you're smart, you don't have to sit there wondering if the person on the other end is faking you.

EDIT - Btw, ***** aren't going to target you if you sound literate and mature. They'll think you're a cop.
