The Cadets

General universe idea: It's another dystopian universe, where censorship/propaganda are super prevalent in society.
I want to combine some elements of Sleepless (working class with awful work conditions/low pay, perhaps keeping that element of the awake-pills that keep much of the population subdued and obedient) with Undefined (underground sub-society that "defies" authority, claims to be another utopia but really is quite screwed up in its own way). Maybe some of Bionics as well - genetically engineered humans that are just... in the world, existing as citizens, soldiers, ranked government officials (basically just not the working class).

Picture the scenery of every future-set video game: a big city with tall buildings, multicoloured neon lights, flying cars (and other modes of transportation), holographic adverts, etc. But yet somehow, there's the sketchy parts of the city (back alleys, hidden entrances to the Underground and stuff).

The Underground - if consistent with some earlier ideas of Undefined - used to be part of a subway system that was closed down. Some people ended up moving there to escape the watchful eye of the government (but did they succeed?!?!). Think - old/rusting subway cars that have been turned into little housing units, the seats ripped away and replaced with bunk beds. Graffiti on the walls, because hey, we have the power to be creative down here. Community kitchens that have been built over the years. I wonder if there's some sort of bioluminescent technology that can allow them to grow crops underground too, so they can be self sufficient. People wander in and out sometimes, so it can be described as 'a den of sin' to those very regulated citizens in the neon city.

MC: Roux from Colours. A top-ranked cadet-in-training at a fancy academy that basically trains soldiers for the government. Roux is very much a good law-abiding 'straight-edge' and is not very interesting in this universe, because his entire struggle in Colours was about being gay (and despite how crappy the government is in this universe, I have decided to remove homophobia lol).

Roux has a crush on Cian, who is also a cadet. Cian's more chaotic - an "I'd bend the rules as far as I can without breaking them" type of person. He's hinted to have been fascinated by the Underground for a long time, an interest that Roux does not share but is supportive of because of, well, his crush.
